Wait, so you guys would say "are you going to play with your Lego?" That just sounds strange.

A lot of this stuff, and others the guy talks about in other episodes, are available at ThinkGeek.com

Some neat stuff though... I have a wishlist on thinkgeek that would cost me over $1000 to complete...

I think what he actually means is 'Lego' is the name of the product, he is wondering why Americans add the 's'. its like the word 'Maths', but the opposite.

"Why do Americans say "Legos"? :(

Lego is a brand name."

It's easier than saying lego plastic construction brick.

It's the same way with band-aid, who gives a sh*t if they know what you're talking about.

I say Lego in Canada. Although when referring to more I say "Lego pieces"

Some of that stuff was actually vaguely interesting and/or useful.

For example; I'd like some coffee flavored popcorn.

No, it's not. LEGO is a brand name and therefore refers only to the company what makes small plastic bricks. It's neither singular nor plural. If you want to pluralize anything, you would pluralize the bricks/pieces and use LEGO as an adjective.

That being said, we in America always say LEGOs just as we always say Band-Aids (rather than, Band-Aid® bandages, see?). There are a few differences in the English language across the pond, incase you haven't noticed, and we aren't going to start calling our sidewalks "pavements" or our band-aids "plasters" just because it sounds odd to you.

Now you'd best get off your English high horse, 'fore you get schooled again.
