A lot of people seem to be arguing over whether the weapons were dated or not. Here is the bottom line. The armor and weapon systems seen wouldn't last a week on a modern battlefield, too dated. The US/NATO military are set up to take on the largest army in the world and come out on top. In todays world numbers irrelevant when the technology gap is too great as long at it isn't say, more than 5 to 1. The problem, and we've seen this in Vietnam/Iraq/Afganistan, is the untrained guy running around with dated RPGs and AK-47 and their clones. Technology doesn't account for that. The good news, and the same goes for China, is that neither country has a sufficient navy or air transport capability to move 200,000-2,000,000 troops. So the moral of the story is this, they can't invade anywhere outside of Asia, and we shouldn't invade there with out expecting the same "quagmire" were already involved with. Even awesome armies such as the US suck at fighting guerilla wars. |
