Saturday, April 23, 2011 1:15:01 PM From wiki: In 1970, Keith Sapsford, a 14-year-old boy, died after falling from the wheel-well of a Tokyo-bound Japan Air Lines DC-8 taking off from the Kingsford Smith Airport at Sydney, Australia. Here's a link to the Australian newspaper that reported on it. Page 7, but google indexed it at page 4 (next to the Sydney water board loan ad) Long story short: yeah, he died |

Saturday, April 23, 2011 5:24:06 AM not sure this could happen these days with the increased security around airports, but when i worked airside at heathrow in the early 90's i know of more than one case of people who had frozen to death in the wheel well of arriving aircraft |

Saturday, April 23, 2011 12:28:24 AM @FeelTheRide can you see the third window from left? The rear wheels are positioned below that. It can be seen in the pic too. The plane is moving atleast 150 -180 mph, thats why he is far from the wheels. |

Friday, April 22, 2011 10:36:23 PM "Did he die?" since a passenger jet needs to be moving at atleast 150mph to take off. i'm gonna say... yes. |

Friday, April 22, 2011 7:12:15 PM Gerry1of1: "He was a guy trying to escape Cuba by hiding in the wheel well. [sic] He was so frozen when the wheels opened he couldn't hold on.... SPLAT!" FancyLad: "Gerry1of1, there have been a few stowaway stories. I've heard about the one you're referring to as well. I guess it happens a lot." I guess he should'a taken the raft like all the other cubans. |
