This elephant, Anne, has since been removed from the Circus and been rehomed at Longleat Safari Park. Not the same as a life spent in the wild, but a BIG improvement on doing tricks all day every day while riddled with arthritis. |

I tried being a vegan. It went on for 2 months. Couldn't hack it. My craving for beef was too much. I was climbing the walls and was at the store and saw the NY Strip.,,,,, It was delicious.

umm netro what does animal husbandry have to do with this? raising animals for yourself is different than factory farming, (still not warranted IMO), which is where people in developed countries get 99% of their meat. And i can personally guarantee that they will not show you the actual killing of the animal, since they hide it from the rest of the workers because of the psychological effects it has on the employees. Yes we are at the top of the food-chain and i would consider that a responsibility not an open door to torture and abuse a living being that can feel pain. your arguement is irrelevant. We are promoting unnecessary torture, abuse and mass-genocide of animals because we think they are tasty. and the reason we think they are tasty is because your parents fed it to you. but it doesnt make sense for your body, for the environment, for our use of resources or for the animal, obviously. |

@imnakdjumpme as I said before ..there is a food chain, and we're on top of it. Animals eat animals, it's how the whole life cycle works. Nothing is wrong with people eating animals or raising them specifcally to eat them. Animal Husbandry is a big deal, with the fact that animals MUST be treated humanely all the way up too the slaughter house. It's the few rotten apples in the bunch that give the rest of them a bad name. I've contacted a local meat processing plan about their practices and they were MORE than willing to invite me down to their place of business and actually give me a tour of their facility and the entire process, as well as their policies on who they except their beef from.
I urge you all to do the same thing if you eat meat and care about animals like I do. Nothing wrong with eating meat, but if you truly care for animals you will make the smart choice about who you purchase from.

Its great to see the outrage. Truly. But how many of you are vegan? im just thinking about the billions of farm animals that have much worse lives, versus what, a few hundred or thousand elephants worldwide. I just wish we were woken up by this more often i guess. |

aahhh, for FU*K SAKES ..I wouldn't think twice about murdering these mother f*ckers, and if you knew me ..you'd know that to be pretty extreme. It's clear that these people have no morals, wether or not they were instructed on how to train animals in this manner. I don't mind Zoo's or Circus', but if they treat animals in this sense then they need to be stopped entirely.

It looks pretty painful to us, and I'm sure it is moderately painful to the Elephant, but Elephants have really thick, tough skin and feel pain a lot less than we do. To that Elephant those vicious blows would probably feel more like a hard pinch (excluding the arthritic leg and the trunk.) Doesn't excuse the person, but at least you can feel slightly better knowing it's not quite so bad painful for the Elephant. |
