I'm reading Lincoln Lawyer right now, and there's a gun that comes goes missing. The main character had previously mentioned the gun in his internal dialog, so the reader knew about it when it went missing. In the movie, they'll have to find a way to introduce the gun before it turns up missing. Just one way that the movie and book will be different. Different mediums, different stories.
So I guess I agree with you to a point, but you can't stray too far from the original, or leave too much out, otherwise the huge fan base of the book that made it possible to make the movie in the first place will hate it. |

I think people need to stop comparing books to movies, and see them as seperate. Of course they won't be the same! When you read, you visualise the characters and such yourself, a movie does it for you!
Just see the movie as another way of telling a story you already know! |

@danthew - I agree the movies don't live up to the books. They are more companion pieces at best. But I would say that 7 pt 1 was the best of the lot. I was so worried they'd back off on some of the darker stuff, but I was very satisfied. If you're tempted to take a chance on one, that'd be it. |

Still haven't seen the Deathly Hallows part 1. Finally got around to reading the books and realized how much better the storytelling is (big shock- how many movies actually live up to the books they're based on?). I lost all excitement about the final installments. I'll probably just end up watching them on my computer. |
