what's really nuts is when you see this in person, at night, all of a sudden it's daytime, quite literally, you'd think the sun just rose. quite breathtaking, shame people won't be able to experience this again, at least not anytime soon. |

Weird, looks to me like this is a bit AFTER liftoff not AT liftoff.
Anywho, I love this stuff. Watched the final takeoff and subsequent landing of Discovery and it was a little sad. It's amazing to think about what these people put themselves through, though. |

The space program isn't done. They still have funding for rocket launches, and I'm sure they will occasionally throw a person or two in there. |

I live about 20 miles from the space center, and tbh, this town isn't great, there isn't much to do, and it gets boring at times. But, it will definitly suck once the space program is done, the tourists pretty much paid for a good amount of what this town has through coming to view a shuttle or rocket launch. |
