continued.... Therefore are you claiming a specialty of the science? Rather as you claim:
"I AM AN EARTH SCIENTIST!!!"
In a sense a jack of all geoscience, but master of no specialty such as a geologist,or a vulcanologist, or oceanographer. This is liken to a General Practitioner in the medical field but not an expert to tell what a specific area such as Internal medicine or OB/GYN.
Basically that would be like telling an expert like an oceanographer how to interpret the data from a tsunami buoy. BTW of which they were incorrect again today thank heavens. I gave you the link from professors of PH D's from Columbia University. Your own peers in Earth Science and backed up and confirmed by oceanographers from NOAA and the Pacific Tsunami Center. I would take their knowledge over yours. Basically quit calling people dumb ass. It shows lack of skills in presentation of the legitimacy of your argument and your expertise. |

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. I was with some local Oceanographers since 9:30 PM last night. While we were waiting for the Tsunami to reach shore. I mentioned your assertion on polar ice caps melting and dictating the currents. They influence the temperature of the currents. However the mention of driving the direction is not correct by your assertion earlier. I suggest you consult Marine Scientists first. You were even given a link explain such how currents are formed. Even though I am a Vet by skill and not a true expert as a geophysicists I am familiar from my days as a pro surfer on oceanography. The fact some of my fellow companions do work for the Pacific Tsunami Warning center and Civil defense gives me adequate information to counter your assertion.

By the way, trees breathe CO2 and put out oxygen. If anything would dramatically affect the ratio of CO2 to other gases in the air, you'd think it would be cutting down huge swathes of trees. And yet, the focus is almost always on the oil industry, while the timber industry actually controls forestation policy. It couldn't have anything to do with politics, could it? |

Crackerjack wheeled out that old climateseptic argument that volcanoes produce more co2 than all of human history. Shame on you - this has been thoroughly debunked.
US Geological Survey (USGS) states: "Human activities release more than 130 times the amount of CO2 emitted by volcanoes." Thats per year FFS. |

@Crackerjack. The chart shows that the co2 has cycled before, but NEVER to the extent its rising now. Look at the current reading at 382ppm, it's never gone above 300 before in the last 600,000 years. |

First of all, I'm going to do something here that I (nor anyone else for that matter) have never done. I'm going to admit I was wrong. After doing some checking around, I've found out that CFC;s are NOT naturally occuring. Thus making my previous posts quite erroneous.
For this, I apologize. This fact was something I had learned many years ago and never thought to question it. However, in my defense, I have found articles on the internet,which I now believe to be incorrect,that backed up my original position.
Davymid,you wanted a link? Well I don't know how to do that so I'll do this instead. Go to "Brokencountry.com" and search for this title "Iceland Volcano puts more CFC’s into atmosphere in one day than humans do in 100 years".
By the way,this is just one of several articles that can be found on the web.

The graph you just shown shows that CO2 and Warming/Cooling is cyclical and we are already trending toward the cooling side now. |

pyrrhios: Those are not "truth in news" laws there bud, Canada owns all the news stations there. They have a public monopoly. They also own all of the film industry in Canada as well. It has nothing to do with 'truth' it has to do with those public monopolies not wanting to have to compete, because they would loose. |

Davy: I don't know about volcanoes emitting CFCs, but ones like Mt. Pinitubo and Mt. Everest, have erupted spewing out more pollution, greenhouse gasses, and other deadly compounds (like hydrogen sulfide) in a few months than mankind has for over 100 years.

well...i said it before, but since everyone seems to have ignored it so they could have an ideological argument, i will say it again.
regardless of what you believe about global warming consider this: its the air we breathe and the water we drink...it really is in our own best interests NOT to pollute it.
also: who profits from conserving energy? no one.
who profits from wasting energy? lots of people. consider THAT when you get your information as well. |
