I had a pet rat who used to try to stick her head in my mouth after I brushed my teeth because she liked the minty smell. She would try to lick it off of my teeth. |

WHAAAAAAAT? The average lifespan of a rat is 3-5 years, and they rarely live to be older than 3. They age 30 times faster than humans. The oldest known rat on record was 7 years old. Are you sure the animal you had was a rat? That seems impossible. |

A friend of mine who died of cancer left me his pet rat. It was three years old when I got it and I was told rats never lived past 6 years. The damn thing lived to 11 years. I will say this about him. He ran to the door to meet me when I came home from work and rode on my shoulder almost constantly while I was in the house and always $Hhit in the bathtub.
All in all a smart and affectionate pet. Marlin, I miss you. |
