first equation is to figure velocity and the second one is to measure force. it's not the velocity that kills you its the force, or in original sayings, it's not the fall that kills you, it's that impact at the end.

I can't believe how few people get this.

I nearly failed high school physics, and I still understand it.

However, upon getting it, all I can think of it Portal...

Okay, what did I win?

I got it, and I'm not a physics/math person. I just know the saying really well.

Sahton...so I didn't get this. Graduated from high school with honors. Now I'm in a liberal arts college, one of the top 100 in the nation. You are trollin'!!!

Not really math, more physics (yes a type of math, but at least at my school separated)

@Sathon: The Delt(T) confused me for half a second. After seeing the 't' and then seeing a "T" my mind instinctively referenced thermodynamics and assigned delt(T) to change in temperature. Then I scratched my head and said "Whaaa?". Oooooh ... TIME again

Actually, if you don't get this, it means you're a high school dropout. Who's probably not getting laid.

As a side note, why does the second equation use a capital T for time (whereas the first one uses a lower case t as it should)? Inconsistency much?

It means its not the velocity that kills you, its the force lol. Hooray for High school physics.

Pretty easy, the final velocity is equal to your initial one plus what you accelerate in a period of time. In other words, if you are a dot in space, and you start to accelerate, i can measure your speed at any time.
The second one is force thats generated by your mass times the acceleration you have, the more acceleration, the more force youll apply.
Still, for this joke, they could have gone a bit further away, including terminal velocity, volume, mass, etc. Poor joke

Its final velocity = initial velocity + acceleration (usually gravity) x time. And Force = mass * change in velocity / change in time (aka acceleration, F=ma)

Math is the language of physics. They are very much intertwined

Velocity of a falling object is equal to the initial velocity of the object, plus the altitude of the object and the time it takes the object to fall. The force of impact is equal to the mass of the object times the Velocity of the object over the rate of time.

It bugs me that they used T instead of t in the second equation and V instead of v in both, it looks like they're saying Force = mass*(change in Volume/change in Temperature).

Physics concepts are represented by mathematical equations. Don't you see mathematical equations? I don't understand how someone can say that this is not mathematics, it's algebra in its simplest form.
