It would probably be better described as the "jerk" function (the derivative of acceleration) which forms a characteristic and easily identifiable inflection point near the end of the otherwise-flat acceleration curve. |

actually its not the change in velocity that kills you, but the uneven change in velocity. if your gut decelerates faster than your pack, then you will be squished |

Simple Physics:
It's not the final velocity (speed) that kills you, it's the force of the ground decelerating you. Force = mass * acceleration, and acceleration is change in velocity over change in time (hence the triangle v over triangle t) |

It's not the speed, it's the acceleration, or deceleration rather.
Not funny. I could just as easily say it's not the acceleration but the impact force on internal organs.
Or not even that... it's the lack of tensile strength in organ tissue |

Wow guys. Half of y'all have no clue what's going on.
The first equation is just an equation to figure out velocity with a given initial velocity and acceleration and time.
The second equation measures the amount of force, or time to slow down an object which weighs mass, m, and is traveling at velocity, v.
Basically the heavier of an object you are, the more time or force it takes to slow you down (without getting hurt) sooo don't jump off a damn building. |
