with 3d animation its easy to forget these things were once hand drawn frame by frame, and there are 24 frames per second of animation. these dresses were genius! most efficiently designed for the poor sleep deprived animator. The way it circumvents physics is GENIUS.

Animators are not lazy. Character designers are.

I don't really think any girl who grew up watching a Disney princess movie is upset about them having similar dresses. There's a certain expectation when it comes to princess dresses: poofy sleeves, long flowy gown, pretty colors.
Ahh, I still love them!

You can easily see for yourself how alike these dress designs are in reality. Ariel and Snow White have basically the same template, but that's where the similarities end.

Cinderella

Sleeping Beauty (Aurora)

Snow White

Ariel

And for that matter, Ariel wears that dress for like 2 minutes at the end of the film. I really don't think it matte

Pseudoman, thank you.

Anyone who for a second considers Disney animators "lazy" is ignorant. You try drawing 24 frames per second sometime, reusing scenes so seldom (because you're *out of money*, by the way) that you can count the instances on one hand.

Seriously.
The Sword and the Stone, The Jungle Book, and Robin Hood. Three movies. One hand.
There are 49 traditionally animated films by Disney at this point in time. 3/49 doesn't say lazy to me.

anymore? snow white was made in the 1930s. little mermaid was 1989, aurora was 1959, and Cinderella was also from the 50's. what about the princess and the frog? why isn't she in this picture if you're saying "anymore"

actually only ariel has a off the shoulder dress...all the others are more "modest" since they're older.

Yeah, because animation done entirely by hand is lazy. This joke is old anyway.
