This does not mean people are smarter. It means they score better at tests that measure information and viso-spacial abilities, like the Weschler tests---> probably because the increase in educational material available and some important factors like nutrition (and videogames. Yes, it's true: videogames are good for us). Intelligence can't be measured directly.
My point is: people are getting dumber. I think it's the processed foods. And fake tans. And MTV. |

That hardly prooves that people are actually becoming smarter in any kind of meaningful way- it just means they're getting better at taking IQ tests. Even so, an upward trend isn't necessarily going to continue. Between 1980 and 2008 there was a drop in test scores among 14 year olds in Brittain. In any case, the rise in IQ scores certainly does not indicate that people are evolving in a direction of greater intelligence. |

I agree kingpong. I watch Jersey Shore for how bizarre and unlike my life it is. If I wanted to watch something I could relate to, It'd be titled "Fat girl stays at home cleaning while husband is at work, checks her facebook, and looks on IAB."
Who cares if the show is uneducational, scary, and everything else people say..that's the point of it LOL. |

Evidence? Human beings may be accumulating more knowledge by building on the knowledge of previous generations, but that is not the same as individuals actually having an average higher level of intelligence. |

This show is popular because of how odd it is. Nobody watches "9-5: the TV Show" because that's what most people do. If anything the fact that this show is worth watching, shows that most people don't live like this and that our lives are good. |
