This was a campaign speech. We've had 2 years to see what he's all about. He's proved that he can talk a good game, but when push comes to shove he's only voting present.

So I guess in the U.S. science and technology sector every one is just at home screwing off eating P.B.&Js and popcorn watching old sci fi tv shows all day. Then all of a sudden the president comes out and says " Its time for new science and technology." and they are all "Dang." "So much for that.". Looks like its back to work for the science and technology sector.

thought it was a great state of the union... less about bragging about the so-called "accomplishments" of his administration thusfar, and instead more of an outline of what he wants or envisions the future of this country to be. drat Fox News, and god bless Obama.

Gee @madest, your chart doesn't mention who controls Congress. You know, the ones who ACTUALLY propose the budget? Or how many wars were underway. Typical leftist propoganda fail.

Ooo, buzz-words and grapics! THAT's gotta be good policy, it has graphics! More promises, oh wait, some of them were from his pre-election campaign, and he broke them. Oh well, he'll keep those promises NOW! Suuuure he will.

It was not off the books...it was off budget.

That means that Congress passed supplemental spending bills to fund the war. It was reflected in each years total National Debt count, but not as a budget deficit.

I Wonder why they staggered the congress people as they did...

Oh yeah, it's to add gaps in the seating so it looks like more people are supporting Obama than who really do.

Meh...more of the same: catchy verbiage, vague/contradictory messages, and unrealistic grandiose promises. Seems awfully familiar somehow...let's see...where did I hear all this before? Oh, right. His campaign speeches two years ago. I guess he's banking on few people actually learning from history. Fun. I wonder how many Oscars he's going to win this year (he might as well since their giving Nobel prizes away in cereal boxes these days).

Cold War was some scary poo. I'm glad Reagan spent his ass off. Carter was an ass for not doing so.

haha @ "put all the things on the books that bush concealed".... bush didn't "hide spending", they just mislabeled it to make justifying it easier... all of Bush's spending was still "on the books", it was just in different places... God you're a gullible kool-aid drinking moron...
