Sunday, January 23, 2011 8:23:08 PM popsiclemyk- wtf man. You are an idiot. How ignorant can you be? Did you watch the video? They had the slightest of Chinese accents, and also a British accent. They were very well spoken and understandable. It is people like you who generate hate the world over- people who do not tolerate other people they don't know or understand, and refuse to try to learn. It is what make racism and hate- ignorance. Open your damn mind and learn something. Anywho. I thought they were well spoken, but I agree that they were "brainwashed." or maybe they did not want to really say what they thought. It was the comments on "democracy is fine, but China is different" or the "China is different" being used to refute comments, with no explanation of HOW China is different that make me wonder |

Sunday, January 23, 2011 8:12:18 PM Fascinating to learn what the youth of China thinks of America... Here's what I think of China. The government is cruel. There is a lack of freedoms that should be there for ALL people. Whether you are the "Chinese people" or not. Religion, for instance. Then, when laws are broken, people are tortured. Just my opinion, that is WAY TOO FREAKING HARSH. You own Shinto writings? Death. -_- Okay, I had my little tirade. : ) |

Sunday, January 23, 2011 7:07:25 PM Im not one for world politics and I am not one to understand a lot of this because its just not where my interests lie, BUT, I do have to say that I don't agree with one bit of their argument. With that said, I am gonna go back to not caring about this and go back to doing homework. |

Sunday, January 23, 2011 6:35:25 PM I think these young ladies have been brainwashed by their government... The Chinese quality of life as a whole is SIGNIFICANTLY lower than that of the average North American. I'm not even from the States and I feel the need to defend them. At least We recall our products when they might be contaminated with any chemical/foreign body. |

Sunday, January 23, 2011 5:58:13 PM "Lblaxplaya20 can you explain why it's just not a possibility?" Nukes. the US is greedy enough to where if we lose everything we give nothing and take away from others...nobody is going to (willingly) attack us and we aren't going to attack anyone that has any chance of bitch slapping us in public... |

Sunday, January 23, 2011 5:39:24 PM @piperfawn In any way, facing the reality, no one country will ever rule the world in our, or even our childrens lifetime. It's just not a possiblity at this point. Complete and total armageddon is more likely to occur then the Chinese ruling the world. This topic interests me so if anyone would like to voice their opinion, it would be much appreciated. |

Sunday, January 23, 2011 4:14:08 PM Pros: 1. At the beginning, they seemed to differentiate between the US government and the populace. 2. It's a valid argument that some world governments can't handle democracy as the US can establish it with forced regime change from the outside. It is naive and irresponsible (maybe not cute) to think that because our political ideals are the best(IMO) that implementing them forcefully in other countries is a workable or worthwhile strategy. 3. Recognized failures of Chinese state and the need for continued moves towards democracy. Cons: 1. The eventual devolution of their commentary about US foreign policy into a judgment about American citizens. 2. Way more patient with their own government regarding personal freedoms and human rights than I am with mine, and yet theirs arguably has a worse record. It makes me think they're more isolated from the negative aspects of it than other folks in China. |

Sunday, January 23, 2011 3:44:58 PM Actually, the title of this should be, "What Have Chinese Students Been Told To Think Of America?" |

Sunday, January 23, 2011 3:18:15 PM What I find funny is that they talk about not getting involved in the business of other countries and how individuals can't be judged by their governments, but what prevents a country that takes away the freedoms of its citizens from taking away the freedoms of other countries, and why defend a government that subjugates individuality when you think of yourself as an individual? |

Sunday, January 23, 2011 12:49:55 PM For anyone who couldn't be arsed to watch the video for one reason or another, their basic message is "USA, drat off and mind your own business!" Only they said it in a much more polite and dignified way. |

Sunday, January 23, 2011 11:03:51 AM Wow, reading these comments has made me lose a lot of my faith in humanity. I posted this so we can point and laugh at the hypocrisy of some of China's brightest students, how they vilify the United States as imperialist yet justify their own imperialism through fallacious relativism. But most of you are thinking they must be right because they "sound smart" and they criticize America. This is the next generation of the "dirty capitalist pigs" slogan. It's much more subtle and it plays on the average person's inability to objectively analyze arguments. What's really disappointing is that some of you agreeing with the students here also completely supported what they are referring to as "imperialism" on the gumballs video. |

Sunday, January 23, 2011 10:24:29 AM I didn't hear anything offensive. They're right about our flaws, and to claim that America is perfect and has no flaws is just hubris. It's easy to get offended when someone points out something you're not doing correctly, but it's much more difficult to take it in a positive, constructive way. |
