I'd like to watch them play this without all of the the annoying camera work and whatnot. Can't they just play it for the camera without all of the constant panning? Still an awesome video though. |

My ex played the cello; probably the only thing I miss from that relationship. He would play along with Apocalyptica in his free time. This video reminds me a lot of that |

It does require a certain technique, but instrument abuse isn't a necessity in doing so. [..]
I showed this to my girlfriend a few hours ago and she herself, being a professional violinist, admitted that they have a different technique, but "wow, that is a lot of hair needlessly being wasted" on the bow.
You've convinced me - I think that in addition to the different technique required, they were overdoing it to make it appear more dramatic for the video. |

Cellists are sexy, but these guys were too spastic, especially the one with the shorter hair. That, and I prefer classical cello. There's certainly good rock cello out there, but they didn't really take full advantage of the richness of the tone of the instrument in this performance. |

I personally know a number of classical violinists who also play modern music just for fun, extra scratch, and for competitions. They play songs like these just as well (if not better) without abusing the bow or the instrument itself.
