@Coyote King: You just described my grandfather in a nutshell. He drinks mountain dew from a coffee mug everyday, at the age of 84, because it is the cheapest drink at the store with his coupons. He once called me and asked if I wanted some milk coupons that he had, claiming that I could "buy the milk with the coupon, then sell it to my friends at whole value" thus, making a profit. I politely said no thank you. I don't think i'm going to be approached in an alley by any of my friends with the whisperings of "Got milk?" anytime soon. Also, I hope no one would buy milk from someone off the streets lol, but good try grandpa!

Extreme Couponing? So a whole 1 hour show dedicated to tracking down coupons for Mountain Dew?

my mom has been an extreme couponer for years, you'd be surprised how many times rite-aid has PAID her to shop there... with rebates and double coupons and such.

I saw this. These people would collect coupons all day, for 10 hours or so, and their groceries would basically be free. $600->$2

cont'd:
So, you basically have to buy one or more newspapers per week, sign up to have coupons sent to your email, check store websites, etc. There are a lot of couponing forums where people in a certain area will post about local deals, coupons, etc. So, it does take a lot of time, but there are definite benefits.

Granted, to people who don't coupon it might seem annoying or stupid, but I know that my mom saves an average of 50% on groceries that she buys, which can really add up.

While some people make it out to seem criminal, it's really just a smart way to shop.

Headdesk.

And you may think I'm just typing those words, but I actually did collapse forward slowly and had to put out my arm to block my forehead from hitting the wood.

My mom does this. I know somewhat of what she does. Depending on the store, some will let you match up manufacturers coupons with retailers coupons. And for most items there's like a 12 week cycle of when it goes on sale. So it goes something like this:
Say soup is on sale this week for 1/2 off of it's regular price of $4 and you have a manfacturer's coupon for .50 cents off of 1 can and you have a retailer's coupon for .25 cents off of 1 can. If the store doubles your coupons, that's a total of $1.50 off of said can of soup, paired with the sale price, you get a $4.00 can of soup for .50 cents. If soup sales cycle every 12 weeks, then you just have to collect soup coupons for those 12 weeks and then buy enough to last you from one sale period to another. That's why the woman in halfpints video is buying a lot of specific items like snack crackers etc.
