Tridirk, you don't watch the show much do you? Jon regularly has productive discussions even with people that I consider toxic, and I have never heard him raise his voice or seen him veer away from rational critique even once.
The only folks who have to fear Jon are the representatives of Big Stupid. When he does become serious about something, when someone has committed the unforgivable Stupid, his quiet intensity burns through the screen and the offending party must feel as if hell hounds are at their heels. But, there is no malice behind what he does. No ill will. Just a deep commitment to Reason itself. |

Madspeech: As I said, both sides have their hatemongers and dividers,(heck, just read your own words), that can't handle an opposition opinion.
Like so many when they can't prevail in the discussion they ramp up the rhetoric, (that they so much blame on the other side). Then spout extreme claims by their opponents.
Blinded by the inflated anger the point is missed.
You just provided a perfect example of how the discussion and interaction goes. |

Jon Stewart made valid points. What you and FoxNews don't seem to see is everything the other party does isn't necessarily wrong. If the the mindless talking heads over at Fox are ordered to criticize 100% of everything that Obama does then they're bound to be wrong ohhh 90% of the time?

I was talking about you.... But Stewart would qualify also.
The only difference is that he speaks for your political opinion and against those to which you disagree. So you are fine with him. But the purpose, intent, and tone of his speech and show is no different than those that you detest. |

Good old Jon Stewart, not afraid to tell it like it is and be funny at the same time. I get more actual news info from him and Colbert in 1 hour than I would watching any given news channel all day long. |

I was going to comment on the video, but my I don't feel like sticking my neck out for the likes of CrakrJak and 5Cats to start swinging at it. I'll just quietly enjoy Jon Stewart for what he is to me, a slightly left-leaning satirist that makes the problems of the world seem less inane and scary. |

That's what I meant, he's paid to make fun of the corporate run news networks. That's why I trust him more. I know Comedy Central is itself a corporation owned by a larger one (Viacom). But, since it is his job I prefer him over the other news networks.
Comedy Central is owned by the same people that own Fox News and MSNBC
Uhh no Comedy Central's owned by Viacom, Fox News is owned by NewsCorp, and MSNBC is a joint venture between Microsoft (MicroSoft Network) and General Electric (they own NBC). |

Comedy Central is owned by the same people that own Fox News and MSNBC. The whole f*cking point of The Daily Show/Colbert Report is that you already know the news and they get to mock the news networks by putting a humorous spin on what you already know. If you actually "get your news" from them, then you are an idiot and shouldn't be allowed to breed. There are plenty of legit news sources outside the American media circle. BBC, Deutsche Welle, and Al Jazeera English are all fairly politically neutral (except when Al Jazeera reports on the middle east) and your local news stations will tend to be naturally fair. |

I liked the one comment about him being more believable than a corporate ran news network? What the heck do you think he is? He doesn't work for free, does he. I'll bet he in fact might be his own corporation? Don't know for sure, but just a guess.
