Tuesday, January 11, 2011 9:59:20 PM and the EU is going to fail anyway, half of it is propped up with US money! Let me entertain this... are you saying it's going to fail because it's propped up with US money? Even if it is (it isn't) then it would be because the US went down as well. In reality everyone owns everyone else. If you compare output the EU comes out on top. It is the strongest entity. Not country, sure, but that doesn't really mean anything. self defense... I have no desire to shoot them at anyone I've been thinking about this one. I guess you can say self defense with a gun is not something you would "desire". Nevertheless, the fact that you have guns indicates that you fear your fellow citizens, otherwise you would not expect to need to defend yourself. |

Tuesday, January 11, 2011 8:53:21 PM krisley you say good things, and me from my part i just like the challenge of the discussion but for sure i'm not moved by hate, i hope that others people to here are not moved by hate. Sometime can happen some misunderstood but this is the problem of texts that don't allow to clearly understand the tones of discussions in most cases.Remember that discussion between neighbours seem to be one of the oldest rule in the history and most of the time is funny untill sadly become a real fight due to the stupidity of human kind. @5Cats i promise to be a good referee, and in any case i like Canada, i think is a great country with open minded people, less polluted by the vices of posh sense of selfishness. |

Tuesday, January 11, 2011 8:19:17 PM I'm not sure exactly what this flame war is about but I have a feeling that it's not exactly on topic...... Here's my two cents on this whole shebang, so read it and forget it as quickly as possible! The guy that did this was a loony. Bottom line. No matter which "hit list" or book might have motivated him, taking an action as extreme as this takes a truly unbalanced individual. That being said, if we're going to insist on playing the blame game, the only people that SHOULD take the fall are..... EVERYBODY. All of us. We're acting like children, picking sides and arguing incessantly. Instead of compromising with each other (a truly radical notion today, although revered when the founders of the U.S. were around) we bicker and fight, and make bodacious claims about what we should do. It's sad to me that even when a tragedy like this occurs, one it can be argued caused by all of the quarreling back and forth, that instead of learning from it, we simply resume fight |

Tuesday, January 11, 2011 8:12:03 PM The sheer irony of any canadian or european calling Americans "stupid" ALMOST isn't even worth commenting on.... almost..... LOL What the deuce is that supposed to mean? If you are commenting on the literal intelligence of the U.S. as compared to the rest world-wake call dude. WE ARE STUPID! It's shameful and degrading, but true compared to most of Europe and especially Asia. |

Tuesday, January 11, 2011 7:58:33 PM piperfawn, that IS funny but what I said is true. The 2nd amendment was written specifically to grant citizens the ability to defend themselves PARTICULARLY against the government. Every single author of the constitution is on record saying that man should not fear its government. It's almost ironic how anti-government most of the authors of the american constitution were. |

Tuesday, January 11, 2011 7:55:39 PM piperfawn... numerically it is but definitely not as a percentage of our GDP, although I'm not going to defend this one. The amount of money we owe and the amount of money we still borrow/print and then spend is really unfathomable. HOWEVER, there are EU members who have much worse economies than the US with much higher unemployment and much higher debt (as a percentage) and that's why the EU will never succeed long term - they can't enforce their own rules. Kind of like the UN! |

Tuesday, January 11, 2011 7:49:40 PM Well I don't think the government should enforce any kind of abortion stance but I don't understand how being pro-life and anti-gun control is contradictory. I'm going to guess that the average anti-gun control person believes that americans were given the right to arm and defend themselves ultimately from the government itself. The founders of this country openly believed that citizens should not be afraid of or intimidated by their government, and that the government should be intimidated by its citizens (they work for us after all, though none of them truly understand what that really means anymore). |

Tuesday, January 11, 2011 7:42:38 PM LazyMe: the "EU" is not a country and the US is much more powerful than any single member in it... and the EU is going to fail anyway, half of it is propped up with US money! And people own guns to hunt with and for self defense. I own a lot of guns, always have, and have no desire to shoot them at anyone. |

Tuesday, January 11, 2011 7:37:38 PM ...our economy being in the pooter is still 20 times more powerful than Canadas. WRONG! Your economy is 10 times larger than ours. But even you are inferior to the mighty EU, which, admittedly, is experiencing problems at the moment, but hey, who isn't? The vast majority of people that own guns do not desire to shoot them at people Is that so? Then tell me, why would someone want a gun, yet not want to shoot people with it? You can't tell me all gun owners are hunters. This pro-gun pro-life stance seems contradictory. |
