Tuesday, January 11, 2011 6:46:42 AM We are following nature's plan. Expand until we use up or destroy the environment then we die off and the planet recovers. If a few of us are left <CTRL><ALT><DEL> otherwise another species tops the food chain sooner or later and it starts again. The planet was here before us and will be here after us. Also we may leave Earth at some point. |

Tuesday, January 11, 2011 5:44:36 AM We are already over populated. As a species we ruin ourselves with not allowing people to just die. I'm not even going to get into how we're ruining our chances for a long survival by interfering with natural selection. |

Tuesday, January 11, 2011 4:46:26 AM If everyone is to live at the same level, the same consumption, then the planet is already overpopulated. The earth is a finite resource so the human population on it can't keep growing without consequence. Simple mathematics. If you don't care about the environment you can ignore the warning signs and keep on growing. The earth will tend to huge metropolises, factory zones, vast monoculture fields, and dead oceans. That to me sucks big time. The only way to retain the worlds natural heritage (and there is much to be learnt and exploited here don't forget), is population control and a move to a steady state economy. |

Tuesday, January 11, 2011 1:21:45 AM Heck, in this country alone we got plenty of space. But everyone (or at least the majority) want to live in the big four: CA TX FL NY. ________________________________ Sounded like for a moment there you were calling those states countries! Yep, the US has lots of space but you're not to hot on people coming in...... the UK has very little but we're too nice to tell them all to F-off! |

Tuesday, January 11, 2011 12:47:59 AM So long as we're not arseholes we should be okay correction: If we weren't such arsholes we would be okay, but most of the leaders are arsholes so we are pretty much drated |

Tuesday, January 11, 2011 12:44:44 AM I hate when these things are coached in terms of fear. 'Fell guilty for being too many'. I like humans. So long as we're not arseholes we should be okay |

Monday, January 10, 2011 9:20:29 PM With WMD's we could cut that 7 billion in half by the end of the week. We didn't create them to not be used. |

Monday, January 10, 2011 8:41:47 PM Meh. It was cool and all, but I didn't really learn anything new. The global population is already beginning to level off. The rate of growth is less than it was 10 years ago. |

Monday, January 10, 2011 8:28:05 PM Canada is encouraging having lots of kids, in order to establish a huge population with a Canadian heritage, as opposed to some other country (which is how it is now, since we have so many immigrants or children of immigrants) |

Monday, January 10, 2011 7:43:30 PM If everyone only had one kid for a few generations (like in China, but less sexism) population wouldn't be a problem. |

Monday, January 10, 2011 6:35:15 PM @piperfawn Why not? As long as we are able to support ourselves, there really can't be any moral reason to not keep growing. The planet is a self contained system that will survive no matter what. What we need to do is cut ourselves off from it and look to the stars. |

Monday, January 10, 2011 6:27:22 PM 7 billion, 10 Billion, 14 Billion, eventually *something* will wipe us all out unless we cut the umbilical cord that ties us to the planet we're on. Who knows maybe our remains will be used as some sort of fossil fuel by the next creature to gain a greater degree of self awareness, my money is on the Crow. |
