We are following nature's plan. Expand until we use up or destroy the environment then we die off and the planet recovers. If a few of us are left <CTRL><ALT><DEL> otherwise another species tops the food chain sooner or later and it starts again. The planet was here before us and will be here after us. Also we may leave Earth at some point. |

We are already over populated. As a species we ruin ourselves with not allowing people to just die. I'm not even going to get into how we're ruining our chances for a long survival by interfering with natural selection. |

If everyone is to live at the same level, the same consumption, then the planet is already overpopulated. The earth is a finite resource so the human population on it can't keep growing without consequence. Simple mathematics.
If you don't care about the environment you can ignore the warning signs and keep on growing. The earth will tend to huge metropolises, factory zones, vast monoculture fields, and dead oceans. That to me sucks big time.
The only way to retain the worlds natural heritage (and there is much to be learnt and exploited here don't forget), is population control and a move to a steady state economy. |

weve been requiring this " balance" for centuries now.. its nothing new..
theres enough space.. dont listen to the elite and their bullcrap about how we are over populated.. you dont need a friggin 10 square mile estate to survive.. :/ |

Heck, in this country alone we got plenty of space. But everyone (or at least the majority) want to live in the big four: CA TX FL NY.

Canada is encouraging having lots of kids, in order to establish a huge population with a Canadian heritage, as opposed to some other country (which is how it is now, since we have so many immigrants or children of immigrants) |

Why not? As long as we are able to support ourselves, there really can't be any moral reason to not keep growing. The planet is a self contained system that will survive no matter what. What we need to do is cut ourselves off from it and look to the stars. |

7 billion, 10 Billion, 14 Billion, eventually *something* will wipe us all out unless we cut the umbilical cord that ties us to the planet we're on. Who knows maybe our remains will be used as some sort of fossil fuel by the next creature to gain a greater degree of self awareness, my money is on the Crow. |
