If you go see this movie,
DON'T F*CKING SEE IT ANYWHERE OTHER THAN IMAX 3D.
Seeing both, it was made to be seen in 3D IMAX in such a way that the 16x9 version lacks energy.
It's most apparent in 2 scenes:
-The Config Nodes (chicks come out of the walls: "Survive!")
-The brawl (Daft Punk.)
The 16x9 version felt so weak, I searched for it so I could re-edit/re-score and show my friend "how it should have looked/sounded."
Instead, a week later, I took that friend to the IMAX 3D, expecting to converse afterward about how much of a disaster it was: Instead we agreed that it was the most visually stunning picture we've each ever seen.
*Spoiler Alert*
There were parts, like the carrier speech - in 16x9 it was a ham-fisted Sark reference, which in IMAX framing had a completely different meaning:
Scariest Nuremberg Rally reference since Bush on the carrier.
