Sunday, December 05, 2010 9:12:24 PM "Somebody should make a show where some engineers or some smart people get together and figure out if this stuff can actually be done or not." People actually did. It can be done easily, according to Newton's (first?) Law of Motion. People actually did and it can't be done because of friction between the cloth and the items on the table. It can be done quite easily if you reduce the friction, e.g. by putting a layer of very smooth material between the cloth and the stuff on the table. But cloth on wood with the stuff on the cloth? No. Newton's first law of motion is that objects don't accelerate unless acted on by a force. It doesn't apply here because the moving tablecloth exerts a force on the objects on it, so it accelerates them along the table in the direction it's moving. |

Sunday, December 05, 2010 2:42:25 PM Somebody should make a show where some engineers or some smart people get together and figure out if this stuff can actually be done or not. Too bad there is nothing on crappy TV. I guess those overpaid morons haven't figured it out yet. |

Sunday, December 05, 2010 2:19:46 PM False, mythbusters just proved that its not possible to do this... If this isnt edited, they cheated and put a plastic layer on top of the sheet so that it doesnt touch the dishes |

Saturday, December 04, 2010 10:51:27 PM And I need to start watching Mythbusters again, I haven't watched ANY tv besides Walking Dead in a while, though I used to love MB. It must be a distinctly different job. Like most people, I go into work knowing that my job will involve pretty much the same thing it involved last week and last month and last year and that it will very likely be the same next week, next month and next year. With MB, it's like "So...we've found out you can be like James Bond and scuba dive in formal attire without creasing it...the job for the next day or two is to find out how many bees would be needed to fly away with this laptop."

Saturday, December 04, 2010 3:41:09 PM @ k-two Notice how, in your video, he has a much smaller table, a longer lead-off, and STILL loses a bottle and something else. |
