Unless you want to cook at a greasy diner, become a migrant field worker, work in a meat processing plant or clean, i'm pretty sure your job is safe. Most of these people are just trying to make a better life for their families. Many come here, work hard and live cheap, then move back home to Mexico, or wherever. Its funny, the "best" country on earth is missing out on a great opportunity here. Come to think of it, we screw up so much. Instead of legalizing and regulating vice we make it illegal. Same applies here, allow people temporary work permits, tax the crap out of them, and pass laws that immediately deport anyone who doesn't have a permit, and pass laws that stop the flow of illegal drugs from Mexico.!st offense immediate deportation with the warning that a second offense will be swift execution, being as they are not citizens, they don't have the rights of American citizens, and could conceivably be considered terrorist(if you have seen the effects of methamphetamine

Here's a solution - we take a state that no one wants to live in (like Wyoming) and wall it off and patrol it

We already have a state like that. It's called Mexico.

Here's a solution - we take a state that no one wants to live in (like Wyoming) and wall it off and patrol it - much cheaper than trying to defend the borders. We then throw all the illegals in there; since there are less than 20 million estimated nationwide, they would have plenty of room.

Let them create their own world - harvest crops and breed animals if they want to eat, create their own barter and (eventually) economic system, build their own houses... and when they finally get advanced enough, we can set up free trade with the new State of Illegal if they want items that they can't produce on their own.

This is the way the US was created - let the illegals come and make their own little state and sink or swim on their own.

Kasuko, even when our ancestors immigrated to America, there were certain things they had to do to be granted citizenship. I realize it's probably easier for you to dismiss seeing how it has nothing to do with your country. But if you're willing to pay for these peoples' lack of taxes among other things, I'm sure that we could find some way for you to do that.

My co-worker, who happens to be of hispanic desent, does not buy the company health insurance. He just goes to the emergency room with his kids and pretends not to speak english. They don't even try to bill him. No co-pay. Immediate service.

I have to pay to see a doctor on the HMO list IF I book a week or 2 in advance AND pay the deductable also... I am a chump.

Illegals have free health care and free tuition and free child support. Why can't actual citizens get those things?

In MA our governor now calls illegals "New Americans" and gives them tuition for college unlike people who are citizens of this country and from another state. I should just go out and get myself a "new car then" or to the bank for a "new bag of money" mabey break into his mansion for a "new house" GOD!!!! I should renounce my citizenship mabey they'll pay off my student loans with that logic.

@ chimmeychang - " i'm pretty sure your job is safe"
Jobs like truck driving? My other half drives a truck and thanks to illegals the average pay is HALF what it was 10 years ago.

"Most of these people are just trying to make a better life for their families"
But they are dragging my family down in the process. I can sympathize with wanting to better their kids lives... but not if they take food from my kid... by ruining the job market that is EXACTLY what they do.

The Myth they only take jobs Americans don't want is a MYTH! Trucker, car salesman, mechanic, carpenters, painters, butcher, and YES meat packing plant, too etc etc etc.

Or, don't take any job at all. Just soak up social services. Not all, but many do that also. Services I don't qualify for and frankly am to proud to take if I did.

If these jobs are in America, Americans should be the ones that fill them.

kasuko - Instead of wasting money on social services, the U.S. should do a "By Pass" system. We could provide them all plane tickets from Mexico to Canada. Let's see if you are so sympathetic when YOUR pay is lowered because illegal aliens flooded the work force at less than a living wage.

Let them not forget they EVERYONE of THESE vigilantes are the children of immigrants (most themselves illegal entrants, but certainly not all). Let them also remember that the very land they call their own was stolen from the actual owners who have been sidelined for generations.

"If American is such a horrible place and every other counry hates us, why does everyone want to move here??"

Agree. So hard.
It reminds me of those people that call you a loser when they can, but ask for money when they need gas.

"It's not that I'm not sympathetic to their situation but if it's the difference between legistation that benefits US citizens and legislation that benefits Mexican citizens I am always going to pick the first."

That's where you and I are different. And that's okay :)

PS- You ain't gonna learn me yet, IAB! I am LITERALLY out the door right now to spend my Thanksgiving in El Salvador volunteering at a shelter with some friends. I know what I'm thankful for and I hope you guys do too :)

"that "huddled masses" poo is just a poem about the statue of liberty... it's not policy."

^THIS!

Also, it's talking about LEGAL immigrants.

If you want to help them, go become president of Mexico and change their situation.

"BUT- I like to help people, and they need it :) Criminals or not, they are just families trying to better their situation. And I welcome them all with open arms! Sorry for the cheesiness, but it's true :)"

Well what about the families who are out of work right now? Do you think that it is really a good thing for illegals to be able to come here and work for way less than their American counterparts? Don't you think that it hurts families here? It's not that I'm not sympathetic to their situation but if it's the difference between legistation that benefits US citizens and legislation that benefits Mexican citizens I am always going to pick the first.

Why teh feck would you cite fox news?

Why teh feck don't you clean your filthy room?

Actually, to answer your question, they're probably the only network that even covered the story. MSM routinely ignores stories that don't support their agenda.

I like to help people, and they need it

It's easy to help people when you're using other people's money. Illegal immigration is costing working Americans $billions. The Illegals don't even come close to paying enough in taxes to cover the cost of providing them with free education, free health care, food stamps, and all the other entitlements they get.

The problem is, if you round them up and throw them out, they just come right back. And who can blame them? In their situation, i.e., living in a corrupt third-world socialist $#!+hole, I'd probably do the same thing.

If we want to stop it, we need to remove the temptation for them to come here: jobs. Here's what I propose. We fine employers who knowingly hire illegals $25K per worker for the 1st offense, $50K per worker for the 2nd offense, and $100K per worker for the 3rd offense AND we put the company into Chapter 7 liquidation. Now, that would REALLY put a stop to this.

Why not just rewrite the system so that it benefits everyone? Why must people die at all from not getting the help they need which could also be accessible?

i.e. There is enough food to feed the world, but not enough money.

Criminals or not, you welcome them with open arms? I certainly hope you don't lock you're doors at night, or that would make you a huge hypocrite.

JUGGALETTEx0: Yeah, you're right, that would make them criminals. Can't argue that!

Even at the statue of liberty the had policies. Contrary to popular belief, you couldn't just walk in to the states back then.
