Wednesday, December 08, 2010 8:42:35 AM look people! you really need to stop bashing hitler.... Yes he did alot wrong, and he did a considerable more right, although it doesnt make up for what he did wrong tho... He is the first leader of a nation to ever bring a 3rd world country to a first world in 2 years. made germany a industrial and militaristic superpower. even today germany is kicking our rears in everything! most car ideas come from germany or japan. germany is the wealthiest country in the EU. it currently owns Greeece and maybe more countries down the road. germany also has the safest highway system in the world per capita with people driving or something like that and also the best beer is made in germany! i mean who else could hold oktoberfest? enjoyed by millions of people in munich and hundreds of millions world wide? |

Wednesday, November 10, 2010 2:33:33 AM Stupid fools. The svastika is not a German symbol at all, but a symbol still in use by many asian cultures today. It has been in use since ancient times. It is a symbol that basically means "Well-meaning." The symbol is used to wish someone good luck, but in a deeper way. It's drawn on all sorts of things pretty much to say, "Hope things go well for you." It's like the Asian version of the smiley face and a "wish you well" all rolled up into one. I seriously feel the cultural stupidity of our nation is an insult to everyone. The Asian use of it has never had anything to do with Hitler. It was most likely brought into use by the Nazis because Hitler liked to have as many "Mystical" backups as possible. A symbol representing the power of the sun and good luck seemed a perfect symbol for a nutjob like Hitler. But he put it to use in Nazi Germany a few thousand years after it had already been in use by cultures that intended its use for nothing other |

Saturday, November 06, 2010 9:25:34 PM @Meghan, even Ghandi said good things about Hitler. Europe and the US see him as the embodiment of evil. The rest of the world sees him as a dictator who stood up to Imperialist countries like England and France and lost. |

Saturday, November 06, 2010 3:05:24 PM I'm not quite sure, but I think that the Chinese also says "Hitler"...I think it's safe to say they are well aware of the theme here...xD |

Saturday, November 06, 2010 1:57:47 PM I remember hearing on NPR about this (or one very similar) restaraunt, but I thought it was in India. They also said how Hitler wasn't really reviled there, as he never attacked India, and he had a real "go get 'em" attitude, or some such effect. Also, Hitler bombed England, which had occupied India, and so that made him alright in India's book. |

Saturday, November 06, 2010 4:03:40 AM @megann_exoh I doubt it too seeing as "HITLER" is clearly on the sign lol. The symbol is of rebirth so if I had to guess, it was known when picking it. |

Saturday, November 06, 2010 2:00:01 AM also, @bryantm3 im sure the families of victims for stalin's pogroms would disagree with you there.. the most accepted figure is a (rather conservative) 20 million people murdered by him. |

Saturday, November 06, 2010 1:55:34 AM LOOK, EVERYONE. the swastika IS a religious symbol, but it was NEVER diagonal, like the nazi one. also, the buddhist one is usually 'backwards' - backwards to the nazi one that is. BUDDHIST:
NAZI:
i study nazi history at college. i did a whole module on this, and this sign is 100% nazi. like i said in my previous post, it was probably an advertising ploy, and it seems to have worked. the only POSSIBLE explination that i can think of is that the sign maker just googled 'swastika' and the nazi one came up first, but i doubt that very much. |

Saturday, November 06, 2010 12:00:47 AM the swastika can be seen on many Buddhist temples, but it as far as i have seen they are always straight not diagonal like the nazi symbol. also seeing as it is also accompanied by the word 'hitler' i doubt it has anything to do with Buddhism or Hinduism. |

Friday, November 05, 2010 11:22:03 PM I'm am somewhat surprised that every one here is taking this at face value. The swastika has a long history before Nazis it used to mean lucky or some such and coke had it on their logo. Besides that can any one here actually read Chinese i mean hell fro all i know it could be Japanese. And lastly the Hitler looks like it was photo shopped in i mean it doesn't even match any of the other fonts present on the sign. It could be true but before people go making baseless accusations please think about the context i mean this is the Internet... not exactly the most reliable information source. To be honest it seems like people are just looking for something to be angry about. Oh and in case it hasn't been mentioned this is probably the fastest IAB thread to invoke Godwins law. |

Friday, November 05, 2010 10:52:43 PM the sign says 'hitler' on it. this isn't a chinese peace thing. i would understand if it was in their cultural context, but can i ask a question? are they just a bunch of fucking nimrods who will do anything to make a buck? seriously, the man killed 6 million jews and 5 million other people he didn't like, and is known as probably the most evil man that ever lived. are you that fucking stupid? |

Friday, November 05, 2010 3:37:33 PM I'm positive that's done on purpose. And yes, very irresponsible, but even in this country it's perfectly legal. Except it wouldn't be illegal if they didn't serve people based on race. Wouldn't work very well. |

Friday, November 05, 2010 3:30:43 PM the swastika originated almost 3,000 years ago, and is used in many different eastern religions. but the sign does say hitler. perplexing, indeed. |
