Friday, November 05, 2010 12:54:24 PM @Aeladil Not even Mirena? Its an implant and doesn't release anything into the body. Good for 5 years to, I think its the best bet for birth control and its more effective than the pill. |

Friday, November 05, 2010 11:51:51 AM This seems like too much of a hassle. Taking a tiny pill is much faster. And I don't understand why there would be less side effects, except for the different composition, but you have a ton of different pills with different compositions, so same thing, no? |

Friday, November 05, 2010 11:44:52 AM @Aeladil What about the mini-pill? I know it takes a lot of discipline, but the dose are so minimal (doesn't have estrogen at all, only small dose of progesterone) it reduce incredibly the chances of side effect. Ask your doctor about it. |

Friday, November 05, 2010 11:30:04 AM This is great news, especially for women such as myself who have been told they cannot ever again use birth control. Used Yasmin last year for 30 days and developed blood clots in my lungs the diameter of US quarters. Almost died (75% chance of dying). No one's sure if it was the progestin or the estrogen - so can't use anything ever again. Pill, shot, ring, patch, etc are never allowed. Fantastic. Still, this is an interesting concept but I'd be concerned about how much is actually being absorbed into the body. It seems like a very inaccurate dose (one pump of the bottle). How long must you wait before putting clothes on? Those sorts of questions. If they CAN get rid of the risk of blood clots, this may be a very favourable option for me. |

Friday, November 05, 2010 11:16:04 AM Yeah, they didn't see any short term side effects. Give it a few years, I'm sure it will cause some kind of long term complications. |

Friday, November 05, 2010 11:05:00 AM Hormones, may they be in a pill, a patch, a gel, a shoot, a ring or any other way IS bad not only to the body, but also to the environment, since it pass trough urine into the water. I do realize it's the most convenient way for a lot of people, I don't condemn it. It's just not ideal. The pill for man is non-sense. BUT there is a very promising "temporary vasectomy" solution that is being tested. A gel is injected into the "tubes" between the testicles and the rest, making "sperm free" seminal fluids... and when the guy wants to have kid, a simple second injection dissolve the gel and sperm can pass again making him fertile again. Of course, this doesn't protect against STDs and should be used only for people who have a regular partner, such as couples that don't want kids yet, or think their family is already completed. Always protect yourself kids! Sex is great but you shouldn't be willing to die for it ~ :P |

Friday, November 05, 2010 10:52:19 AM @mosthead Congratulations! You're going to be a daddy I love how people get all shocked when their girlfriend gets pregnant... If you're retarded enough to cum inside, it's your own bloody fault. I mean the only certain way is no sex at all (unless you're God/ Mary) Next best I would say is condom+withdrawal+pill... that way the woman is doing something, the man is doing something and you've pulled out before anything 'comes' anyway so... The way I see it is if you decide to cum inside, then you should accept that her biology/ chemistry or whatever MIGHT screw up... so stop whining. If a condom breaks, then accidents happen and then whomever decides to keep it, tbh, I think it's solely their responsibility. Abortions are so safe and easy early on that there's no excuse. The pill is virtually as safe as a condom which 5% of people out of the year will get pregnant on if continuously using. |

Friday, November 05, 2010 9:12:28 AM I'd really like to see more of this research going into a BC pill for men. Though I think that neck beard might do the trick. |

Friday, November 05, 2010 8:59:29 AM "Condoms. Condoms. Putting a bunch of extra hormones into your body is bad for you. Even the pill ends up giving girls lots of problems later in life. These things are not good for you, ladies. Just use condoms!" But pills+condoms works best! "Wait...five years?! " These things take time for a very good reason: f*uckloads of clinical testing to make it safe. Looks legit to me, good work people. |

Friday, November 05, 2010 8:49:50 AM I call total BS. All drugs have side effects. They're either lying or it really doesn't work. I really don't think 18 women is enough of a test group either. Let's see what happens when they do more tests and come up with side effects or a lot of pregnancy. |
