Goats, chickens, cows, etc are largely kept as livestock, not as pets. And I wouldn't called a goldfish domesticated as much as... captured.
Dogs and cats are the only major animal we've altered by domesticating, and we did that for a purpose, not just for the heck of it.
I don't think we need to attempt to domesticate any more animals, let alone an animal as difficult as a monkey... Of which it's only practical purpose is essentially to provide entertainment and have it's diaper changed? :P |

NinjaKisses - with that thinking, there would be no dogs, cats, cows, sheep, goats, pigs, chickens, parakeets, canaries, or gold fish.
any animal can be happy and domesticated... within the limits of the species. I kept racoons as a kid. great pets. You can't treat it like a dog or cat, it is neither... but still, the females are great pets... the males are too agressive. |

Monkeys can be kept as pets as much as any other animal can - wildlife can learn to live with humans. We just have to remember to respect the fact that they are wild. Even a standard housecat still relies on its instincts. |

That monkey is actually ticked off. monkeys aren't meant to be kept as pets. they have severe mental issues being kept in a home. |

It's cruel to keep monkeys as pets. He's not showing he didn't eat the grape he's trying to brandish his teeth. Show dominance. Monkeys aren't human. They don't smile. It's not love they're showing. It's "When I get a chance I'll rip your face off." Monkeys should be left in the wild. |
