Wednesday, November 03, 2010 11:51:58 PM CJ all that says is you need 60 to cloture a filibuster. You don't understand that there are senators like Lieberman who are effectively republican on most issues. A single person party can make a filibuster so long as there aren't 60 people to call for cloture. Is this why you kept bringing up that republicans didn't have enough to filibuster a bill in the senate? Because that's really un-informed of you. They did. |

Wednesday, November 03, 2010 9:12:38 AM madest: Wiki - In the United States Senate, rules permit a senator, or a series of senators, to speak for as long as they wish and on any topic they choose, unless "three-fifths of the Senators duly chosen and sworn" (usually 60 out of 100 senators) brings debate to a close by invoking cloture under Senate Rule XXII. This means that as few as 41 senators, which could represent as little as 12.3% of the U.S. population, can make a filibuster happen. Care to debate that FACT further ? I didn't think so. It's apparent you don't know jack about senate process and the cloture rules. |

Wednesday, November 03, 2010 4:57:11 AM @CJ I think you're still missing the glaring point of his message was to the people that attended and not the people in the House or the Senate. Try listening to the video without bi....oh hell nevermind. |

Wednesday, November 03, 2010 4:06:22 AM Cobra save your breath. CJ doesn't even know what a filibuster is. He thinks it's a maneuver for the majority party. Surprised he's never seen Mr. Smith Goes to Washington. |

Wednesday, November 03, 2010 3:13:11 AM Sephiroth: Perhaps then, You (and others) lack the correct vocabulary, And facts, To state your case. Because all I've read so far demonstrate a complete ignorance of what has been going on in the congress recently. During the past two years, The Republicans have tried to point out the flaws and hidden agendas in the Democrats plans. Despite that effort, Democrats shut the Republicans out of the process and ignored their constituents pleas for moderation. That is what lead to the Democrats loosing power in the House, Loosing several seats in the Senate, and several Governorships changed hands as well. To hammer the point home, Mark Kirk (R) is taking over Obama's old senate seat, Even the people in Obama's home state are fed up. |

Tuesday, November 02, 2010 11:37:50 PM cobrakiller: As I stated before, There were no filibusters, 40 seats are needed to do that. The senate Republicans only held 39 seats, Before today's election. The democrats, Had they been really unified, Could've passed any legislation they wanted to without any votes from the other side of the aisle. |

Tuesday, November 02, 2010 9:30:51 PM crakrjak, like the republicans were so cooperative with all of there filibusters. neither side ever cooperates with the other. thats the major problem with our system, neither side wishes to compromise no matter how much they might say so. but what jon stewart said was true, and he said it before the dems lost the house. so the liberals now have the executive branch, half the legislative branch, and a little less than half the judiciary branch (kennedy is a conservative, but sometimes sides with the liberals). i'd say them asking for cooperation isnt anymore substantial now than it has been. |

Tuesday, November 02, 2010 7:04:22 PM You still need to get it through your small brain and thick skull it's not always about blue and red. Gotta love how liberals want 'cooperation' now that they've lost the House of Representatives. For two years they shut Republicans out of the legislative process and run amok against the wishes of the majority of their constituents. ..because we're all such dishonorable heathens right.. Feeling a little guilty there madest ? I've not used those words to describe you, So I can only guess as to why you use them now. |

Tuesday, November 02, 2010 6:12:30 PM @CJ You still need to get it through your small brain and thick skull it's not always about blue and red. Get over yourself. We all can disagree on how the country can or should be ran, but at the end of the day we still make concessions with each other to work towards the goals we set each day. |
