Monday, October 25, 2010 5:01:09 PM So davy, you actually found this fossil? And this was a legit discovery? And you did something meaningful? Well, yes and no. It's a calcareous concretion, not a fossil... The description would have been a bit dull otherwise. Here at IAB we never let facts stand in the way of a LOL at something resembling a rather large c*ck. |

Monday, October 25, 2010 12:06:22 AM vv What eskimo says is true. When I was interviewed about this scientific find, the reporter asked me, "what is this I don't even", before instantaneously imploding. |

Sunday, October 24, 2010 11:57:26 PM A leading expert revealed that rather than advancing scientific knowledge, this amazing find has single-handedly knocked paleontology back about 150 years. The expert then went on to categorise the find as "mind-dratingly bizarre ... when Davy brought this find to my attention I literally poo my pants and drooled a little, I don't know what to make of it." |

Sunday, October 24, 2010 6:03:29 PM Why not Talleywackerasaurus? The longer the name the better I say. Nice find anyway davymid. Think it might find it on to Google Earth world oddities map? |

Sunday, October 24, 2010 1:06:05 PM Hehe Spartakitty... Well, no. Apart from the problem of it being about 4 feet across (sorry Ollie!), it's in a UNESCO World Heritage site where sample collection is strictly prohibited. It's also at the location of the *NERD ALERT* global stratotype for the Cambrian-Ordovician boundary, a bit of a geological shrine. No, I left it in place, so that many future generations of geologists can go and admire this concretion shaped rather like an enormous c*ck. |

Sunday, October 24, 2010 12:28:30 PM p.s., not shopped, nor did I find this somewhere on the internet. Photo taken by my own fair hand, while on a geological field-trip. |
