If you believe that female people are superior in this way, you have three self-consistent possibilities:
i) Male people are superior in other equally important ways, i.e. you believe in a "seperate and different but equal" idea.
ii) Female people are just plain superior to male people.
iii) Female people are superior to male people up to a certain age. Past first degree age, as the gap in average academic performance continues past that. Maybe 25?
If (iii), do you advocate that men be granted adult rights later than women? e.g. women can vote at 18, men not until 25? If not, why not? |

Lenten:
The average academic performance of female pupils is higher than that of male pupils.
You believe that the school system is strongly biased against female people.
You must therefore believe that without the bias you think exists, female pupils would outperform male pupils by a much larger margin.
There are two things you can believe while remaining self-consistent:
i) Female pupils are innately superior to male pupils.
ii) There is an even stronger antimale bias outside schools that more than offsets the antifemale bias you think is in schools.
Which do you believe?

I don't really think there is a true smarter gender, I mean it would depend on the person themselves, I would think at least.
You do think. Sadly, too many people don't, so they believe in various irrational prejudices and, unlike you, make themselves too stupid to realise that individuals vary.

Is anyone else old enough to remember when the prevailing sexism was to believe that men could multitask far better than women?
Same poo, different sex. Though the rapidity of the reversal is quite unusual with this particular baseless stereotyping.
A good rule of thumb is to assume that every stereotype about every biological group is very probably nothing more than a reflection of irrational prejudice and that every absolute statement about biolgicial groups is absolutely false unless it involves only the criteria used to define those groups. |

Studies show that male and female teachers alike call on male students more than five time as often as females in the classroom through out all grades.
Are those the ones showing that male pupils are reprimanded several times as often as female pupils? Being "called on" isn't necessarily a good thing. |

We have one story claiming that all women are more intelligent than all men and another story about one specific woman who did something foolish in a car. Group smear in one, factual statement about an individual in the other.
The fact that anyone could seriously ask which direction the sexism is going in that scenario shows that antimale sexism is dominant in society today.
Still don't see it? Try swapping groups so that you're not blinded by the prejudices we're all conditioned to have. So, for example, imagine MSN carrying the headline "Proof Blacks are less honest". Do you see the prejudice now? What do you think would happen if MSN had a story title that prejudiced against a group it isn't currently socially acceptable to be that prejudiced against, rather than against men? |
