@Wizard - I agree - in general. People really should realise that they do not own the monopoly on the truth (this applies for EVERYONE, religious, atheist, leftist, rightist, every nationality and colour) and that there are STILL far too many things in the world which are subjective, and CAN'T be precisely defined to a single truth.

That said, there is virtue in restraint, and if I say something, and someone takes offence, I will apologise for offending them, but not for my thoughts. Sometimes silence is the way to go.

@almightybob - "the biased nature of people's (read: liberal's) sources"
What the Hell is up with USAmerica atm? Why must you be so damn polarised about everything bloody thing?! Don't answer that, actually.

You know what though? Screw em. I mean so what if some group doesn't like gay marriage or thinks being gay is wrong and says so. Why apologize for that? So what if some group offends religious groups because they think all people who think there is a God are just stupid. Why should anyone need to apologize to anyone for something they said they do or do not agree with. Or saying that they do or do not think something is right or wrong? Seriously, who cares if someone gets their stupid feelings hurt?

F**k people and their worthles feelings. What makes anyone think their feeling matter?!?!

So far the divorce rate of gays is abysmal, The first women to get married in Massachusetts divorced within months

There could be a large number of factors influencing that, possibly the condemnation of the religious folk?

Manualdirveag, you actually make me feel a little sick. You spew idiocy as if it was fact. Back in history Gays weren't hated, look at the greeks. Who are you to say what is natural or unnatural, yeah two gays in the animal kingdom can't procreate, that doesn't make them non existant...

almightybob1: So far the divorce rate of gays is abysmal, The first women to get married in Massachusetts divorced within months.

Also that "50%" figure is exaggerated. The real divorce rate is more like 30%.

162.88 million men and women ever marry
49.68 million men and women ever divorce
30.5% = men and women, combined, who ever married end up getting divorced

According to year 2000 census data.

i would like to note that these are hasidic rabbis. most reform, conservative, and many modern orthodox synagogues openly accept gay members. so don't think that this represents the jewish community as a whole.

This is the last straw.

I am tired of this poo!

No one has the authority, the right, or the ability to tell another person how to live. If someone came for your bible or your way of life with this much blind aggression you'd drating do something about it! Help anyone oppressed, not because you believe what they believe but because it's the right thing to do.

"Leave the word 'Marriage' out of it and let it retain it's sanctity and dignity."

When the divorce rate is 50% how can you claim there is any sanctity or dignity left?

We'll ignore your slippery-slope argument because it's been dealt with so many times before. Already by davy in this very thread actually.

And for a man who never misses an opportunity to slate the biased nature of people's (read: liberals') sources, why would you pick LifeSiteNews Crackr? When their principles include, and I quote, "LifeSiteNews.com emphasizes the social worth of traditional Judeo-Christian principles". Hardly an unbiased source of which we know you are so fond.

But assuming that report is legit, then I agree, they gay community is in the wrong. They have the right to get married, but not to force someone to perform the

Marriage' is between a man and a woman, Always has been and it should remain so. Words have meaning

We use the word awesome differently
The word sick is used differently
The word smoking has a bunch of meanings
Just a few examples...

What's that thing about sanctity I hear about? Sorry, I can't hear over the divorce rate.

poo, I used to be against gay marriage too. That was when I was 14 and I would say anything to impress my conservative father. Now I belong to an international and highly diverse community (UB) and I see that maybe what's normal to me isn't normal to everyone else. And thats okay!

Precisely, as CrakrJak states...I feel a lot of teh push for legalize gay marriage is simply to impose their beliefs on the churches and to try and "score a hit" against organized religion...I feel that Gays should be allowed to become married, however I feel that Churches and congregations have every right to turn away those couples that would go against the beliefs of the church. Doing it just willy nilly and not respecting the churches rights just goes against the religios person's rights which is also unconstitutional...

Crakr: Can they do that? I haven't heard that until you mentioned it but I don't agree if thats the case. Just like I feel homosexuals should be allowed to marry, so should churches be allowed to keep their beliefs on the matter.

HalfPintRoo: Many lgbt blogs have already stated that the next step is to force churches to marry gays or face huge lawsuits for discrimination.

I keep hearing "they want to marry in churches and thats wrong!"

No, I'm sure they don't. They aren't looking to change the beliefs of a religion. They are looking to be treated fairly and equally in the eyes of the law.

Most gay people I know are more tolerant, empathetic and "Christian" then most Christians I know. I'm not calling my Christian friends and family wrong or bad because they are all good kind people, but they don't have a monopoly on the law.

Keep your beliefs in your church, thats why you are apart of it! But the law is for all american citizens and therefore should allow two humans to marry. Gender and sexual orientation shouldn't matter.

Godddd, why is this even an issue? Let gays get married, stop making it a big deal. You don't have to agree with it, just recognize how unconstitutional it is to ban such things. It isn't about how you feel, it's about what's constitutionally right. Just let it go, man.

madest: Sorry but 'Marriage' is between a man and a woman, Always has been and it should remain so. Words have meaning, Redefining a word makes it loose it's meaning and that is the real objective of 'The homosexual agenda'. This is an attack on straight culture and heritage that will open the gate to every other kind of sexual perversion being allowed.

Leave the word 'Marriage' out of it and let it retain it's sanctity and dignity.

Ok so this guys is obviously got issues with gays. not to defend him but i do agree with him on one point. My kids , my children should not be told its ok to be gay when they are 8,9,13 years old. It is not the governments right nor the school systems right to tell our kids anything about homosexuality. I don't care what you do behind closed doors. But just because homosexuality is accepted in this country does not mean it should be given the same weight as heterosexual relationships. The natural way of doing things should be give precedence over the unnatural. And yes I say natural because in nature 2 male animals do not meet up and procreate. Nature says a male and a female mate to make a baby. Now nothing says they can't have a slice of something else for fun or adventure or because thats what they choose to do. It should be made very clear to generations to come that the natural way is not homosexual relationship.

Judaism as a whole =/= black suits and black hats. Those are the Orthodox who choose a way of life that reflects old laws.
Go to a Reform temple service and an Orthodox service, try to compare the two. There will be far more dissimilarities.

Madest you should apologize to Jews.
Have you ever seen a Jew in person? You'd notice that it's an extremely small percentage of Jews who follow the strict laws of Orthodoxy.
Even the Conservative, Reform, and Re-constructionist movement Jews give the Orthodox shifty eyes.

Eh, I think that Jews should be criticized just as much as Christians, Muslims or Atheists. The holocaust was 70 years ago, they can't keep hiding behind it forever.

Canada already passed the bill in 2005

YES almightybob1, I KNOW! lolz! I'm referring to the lead-up to passing that law. The Federal Liberal party floated several ideas, the main Gay groups expressly rejected "seperate but equal" which is their right to do, eh?

I liked the idea where the government got out of the marriage business entirely and treated all peoples, married or not, as equals. How right-wing of me, eh? (currently in Canada the tax-man takes MORE from you if you're married than not). (They 'give back' some if you have kids though).
