Thursday, October 14, 2010 8:44:13 AM Ubfwins, yeah, laughing at kids who can't read well isn't funny, that is, unless you're also a kid, then it's called normal. The lower class will always strive for a higher place but will never get it, because no matter what they accomplish, they can never escape what they were, who they are, which is not defined by external conditions. Likewise, the middle and upper class are also bound in place, because no matter what happens to them, they will maintain something that the lower class never had: dignity. This applies to wealth in knowledge as well. Nevermind that people are naturally smarter than others, because the only thing you can do is come close to being their equal, but you can never be the same as they are. |

Wednesday, October 13, 2010 4:58:32 PM @taylor_stone No, it's arrogance like yours that drives people to "pretend to be dumb" that or they didn't grow up in an environment that allowed them to sit at home and enjoy reading, you pompous douche :) |

Friday, October 08, 2010 9:29:16 AM @Tratheyas "@Gentle-Tramp You're*" Picking one grammar fail and missing the other makes you look dumb as well. He should have used "highly" and not "high" we well. |

Friday, October 08, 2010 9:17:40 AM "That was a bit mean. Don't you think?" Not at all. I spent most of my youth reading books FAR more complicated than LOTR and never had an issue with finding them "Stupid and nerdy" because I actually was capable of understanding them. I remember the kids sitting beside me in English class having trouble reading the simplest books and laughing to myself. Its most commonly not a lack of ability to read. Its usually more like the thought of "Being smart isn't cool, so I'm gonna pretend to be dumb." And that mentality is something I laugh at to this day, because its more and more obvious that its still true. In my high school days, we had movies and tv shows that made us think. Today, its all pop culture and cheap thrill. Instant gratification has become the soup du jour instead of expanding your brain and learning new things. |

Friday, October 08, 2010 7:34:35 AM It is meant to refer to the rings of power, not the one ring. |

Friday, October 08, 2010 5:48:45 AM Surely if Sauron had found the ring, he wouldn't be asking for someone to claim it? As the person would think that Sauron had the ring? Made me laugh anyways. |

Friday, October 08, 2010 5:34:38 AM I get the joke, but technically it doesn't make sense. It would make more sense if it was "ring lost" SURPRISE! You didn't get the joke. You just thought you did. |

Friday, October 08, 2010 3:06:27 AM @taylor_stone- HOW DARE SOMEONE QUESTION YOUR UNFATHOMABLE KNOWLEDGE. THE UNCLEAN ABOMINATION MUST BE DESTROYED FOR NOT LIKING A SERIES OF NOVELS. HE IS CLEARLY RETARDED AND UNFIT TO LIVE. |

Friday, October 08, 2010 2:17:25 AM LOTR isn't necessarily nerdy, I agree that the series is one of the most important works of literature around. Bear in mind, though, that elves and wizards are not to the taste of everyone, irrespective of how vast and how well it's done. |

Friday, October 08, 2010 12:05:58 AM "Said by someone who is obviously not intelligent enough to understand it. Go back to watching your Jersey Shore retards and leave the reading and thinking to those who are capable." your thinking to high of yourself again =P |

Thursday, October 07, 2010 11:30:18 PM lOL- yup, worth a try. and for those who think LOTR is a bit long ( rolls eyes), I suggest you give it another go. The Silmarrilion is a bit dense though. |

Thursday, October 07, 2010 10:52:14 PM My guess is that it's something like a Nuva Ring, which us ladies can use as a contraceptive. It's a little rubbery ring that you stick up your cootchie until your period. When that's over, you put a new one in. (and you can do the naughty while it's in there, too) Sorry for the possible TMI, btw. |

Thursday, October 07, 2010 10:12:51 PM @xavroche-I'll agree with you about the whole movies-based-on-books part, but I have to admit...I tried reading the books, and I could barely get through the first chapters before giving up. Too complicated for my tastes. |
