Tuesday, September 14, 2010 11:34:49 AM LOL.....I remember when the myspace junkies were saying the same trash about facebook before it came out. Trends are so comical, you really just have to laugh. |

Monday, September 13, 2010 12:26:52 PM I'll join, I don't like the problems with security that Facebook has had in the past and would like to see how well this one handles. Just as a note though. Diaspora goes OPEN SOURCE on Sep. 15th it does NOT open to consumers till sometime in October. See their post on it at: and read the adendum posted at the bottom.http://www.joindiaspora.com/2010/08/26/overdue-update.html |

Monday, September 13, 2010 12:20:40 PM sounds lame.....Coming up as the "Anti-anything" is always a desperate attempt at success as an "all or nothing" scenario! |

Monday, September 13, 2010 6:29:03 AM I too fail to understand how Diaspora is in any way anti-Semitic. |

Monday, September 13, 2010 6:16:46 AM I think it might work. Just because it's linked to other websites does not mean that it cannot be outdone. It has potential. Also, how is the spreading of something that was localized anti semetic?? The name makes sense. |

Monday, September 13, 2010 1:03:32 AM I don't see Facebook being overthrown like MySpace and Friendster. It has become far too integrated in the internet. Most major websites allow you to sign in with Facebook and have linking options. The best way to get people better security is awareness raising websites like youropenbook and pleaserobme, as well as that torrent that security company released with every facebook user's publicly available data. Security measures are only a deterrent. Anyone with enough determination can access your data. People need to learn that they need to limit what data they put online. |

Sunday, September 12, 2010 11:48:17 PM Diaspora; the dispersion or spreading of something that was originally localized (as a people or language or culture) If they don't at least split facebook users in half they could just turn their site into a Jewish facebook, otherwise their name is stupid. |

Sunday, September 12, 2010 10:57:04 PM @MauserTM, The CEO of facebook probably did that just to mock them as their system won't work... People are sick and tired of always changing social networks. I doubt my entire family would follow me onto a new network. This is stupid, just be careful of what you put online, no matter WHAT you put, it belongs to the internet. |

Sunday, September 12, 2010 7:11:58 PM "Open Source also means that you can verify, in the source, that they are not collecting sensible data about you. That the privacy they offer is REAL and not just a joke" How do they intend on making any money off of the website if they don't collect data for advertising? Maybe I am understanding this wrong? I personally don't care if Facebook collects my data, as long as they are not providing it to third parties. As I understand it right now they display adds to you on Facebook if you fit a target demographic but the third party never knows who you are or recieves your information.
