also, breaking off padlocks, few people below mentioned easy ways to get them off, though alot of times, a screwdriver is all you need. just unscrew the silly metal thing that the lock is through and done, no need to even toy with the lock. |

always found it a bit commedy that in movies a 9mm can break off one of those overreinforced locks but cant punch through a coffee table from 3m away |

Mythbusters did actual tests with actual results. This is just a video of someone shooting some padlocks, which only tells us that some padlocks are easier to shoot open than others. Like we didn't know that already. |

I'd have been more shocked if the padlocks were strong enough to not be damaged by being shot, and who the hell is going to break into someone's shed with a bastard gun in the first place? Nobodies going to notice someone shooting something are they? |

Here's what I learned about padlocks:
1. Burglars don't shoot locks.
2. Set a spike on the top of the body of the lock, hit the spike with a hammer. Pops right open. |

What's the point? Shoot lock; shoot another lock; every so often show one of the shot locks from a different angle. The results are useless if you keep them a secret.
It's not like I care if someone steals a bag of mulch from my shed any way. |

Given the relatively low rate of gun ownership in Australia, I question this video's applicability to any lock I own. That said, from the vid, it is a pretty lucky shot that takes the lock off first go, so yeah, I'd trust them. |
