Saturday, October 16, 2010 8:22:41 PM I hate it when guys shake hands like they have a hand around your throat. It's sad that they feel they have to prove how masculine they are.. |

Monday, September 13, 2010 5:04:16 PM CodeJockey, one instance does not a trend make. I have many nurse friends, most of them quite dainty females, and they can handle (and do handle) a lot of heavy lifting. I doubt that male nurses deserve to get paid more purely because they are capable of (in some cases) lifting a heavier load.

Monday, September 13, 2010 3:31:12 PM -_-;; It's thing like this that remind me that we are still so far behind the times... If a woman acts like these rule suggest she's called a ball-busting b***h who boned her way to the top, but if she doesn't and acts like a woman is expected to by men she's passed over for one of the "good ol'boys". I smell farm animal fecal matter. |

Monday, September 13, 2010 11:09:10 AM kmrocky: looks like someone finds herself to be guilty of several wrongdoings listed here. these, however offended you may be by them, are facts about the work world. it was written by a woman who realizes this, and wants to help stubborn people like you. |

Sunday, September 12, 2010 8:06:54 PM KMRocky, it says on the bottom that it was written by a Lois P Frankel Ph.D. I believe to be a name given to females. Learn to read. And good job hunting. |

Sunday, September 12, 2010 6:43:26 PM This I'm guessing was written by a man....a single man, who's most likely a virgin, in his 30s, and living in his mom's basement. And this is why he will never get laid. |

Sunday, September 12, 2010 12:57:14 PM I like how people don't understand the fundamentals of trends and statistics. On the article: the article expresses that females are more likely to follow these behaviors- this is true thus helping a general intended audience NOT an individual. The individual statistic does not matter as she is not talking TO someone in particular. Second off, these traits express decisiveness and assertiveness traits which simply are stronger. A leader who second guesses is a poor leader. These traits listed exhibit associated qualities in the human psyche. Even guys can learn from this though. Point is you may not like it but this has truth to it, as it was as the advisory note says based on a study. You can choose to ignore it but you reap what you sow. Many times stereotypes or generalizations have truth but it is folly to judge an individual on them as I said it has nothing to do with the individual. |

Sunday, September 12, 2010 9:49:41 AM "I doubt that male nurses deserve to get paid more purely because they are capable of (in some cases) lifting a heavier load." That's EXACTLY why they deserve to get paid more... Didn't we do this before? |

Sunday, September 12, 2010 2:39:44 AM If a woman wants to get ahead in a company and taken seriously then she will have to take on some male traits and just get on with it. It is impossible by definition for anyone who isn't male to take on any male trait. A male trait is limited to people who are male - that's what it means. It's also implied that it's impossible for someone who is male to *not* have that trait. There aren't any sexed traits. There are gendered traits, though, with varying degrees of masculinity and femininity. I'm not being pedantic - it's a hugely important distinction. The idea of sexing traits and other things gives only two options that can never change and forces everyone to comply to one or the other depending on their sex. The idea of gendered traits and other things is descriptive rather than definitive, so it allows for change and has a spectrum of options and allows anyone to be at any point on that spectrum. That's a massive d |

Sunday, September 12, 2010 2:30:08 AM Jesus. I don't understand how people can't get this: Men and Women are different. Whereas I do understand why many people can't get this: Individuals are different. It's common for people to divide humanity into two groups on some biological basis, lump one group together as "all the same", lump the other group together as "all the same" and therefore be able to conclude that the two groups are fundamentally different. What I do find bizarre is when people who do that genuinely think they are acknowledging differences and criticise people who don't do it for not acknowledging differences. I don't get that - how can anyone get it so backwards? Sameness is not difference. Difference is not sameness. How can anyone confuse the two? |

Sunday, September 12, 2010 1:52:34 AM The stone cold fact is that we live in a male dominated society, this isn't going to change and is simply the nature of our species, without this aspect procreation would grind to halt. We are really still animals, no matter how much we may think we have evolved. If a woman wants to get ahead in a company and taken seriously then she will have to take on some male traits and just get on with it. Nearly everyone, male or female, puts on a 'work face' and modifys there behaveour for work so it's not really a big deal. Now, bitch go make me a sandwich! (humour) |
