not an actual parenting tool. Most likely in use by the ambulance service.

I like how a lot of people ignored where it said "patient" and just assumed this was for torture or punishment.

Aluciel: You never want to hold someone down during a seizure. They do it in movies but that's the exact opposite of what you should do.

I can say from experience that while this may be a way to secure a frightened child, it sure as hell doesn't do anything to make them less frightened. They put me on one of these while putting stitches in my head because I kept trying to kick and bite the doctors.

Nothing like being strapped to a table while some stranger comes at you with a needle to the face.

This should be in every restaurant except "The Clown" (McDonald's). The kids can have that one.

Leave the damn kids at home people!!!

My parents used to request something similar to use on me when I would get shots. I am terrified of needles and it was pretty much the only way they could get me to hold still.

for medical purposes, as well as "security" (ie torture to the rest the world) purposes

To be honest never heard or seen such a device till now, and the above statement is my first impression. The US disregards international treaties left, right and center. What's to stop them from putting child-soldiers on trial? Oh, wait they are, reference to Omar Kader, a 14 year old kid captured in Afghanistan, and held as an adult, which is in direct violation of the treaties signed, including the US, on protecting and rehabilitating such children.

But I guess in America, it doesn't count if their Muslim.

My apologies for the rant, but this thing is wrong.
