According to a news item I just read the Bosnian police, acting on tips, have identified her and are questioning her parents. She is liable for a maximum fine of $6500.00 under a recently enacted law. They have not revealed who she is to the public. |

I guess the point I'm trying to make is that killing an animal isn't wrong on its own (every one of use lives off of other animals' lives), we should just show respect for all forms of life. When taking the life of an animal, we should do so respectfully, so the issue here is more with her lack of respect than the method she chose right? |

Although the methods she used were probably barbaric, I can't say I have a huge problem with animals being euthanized no matter HOW cute they are if there isn't a more suitable option. Are we just reacting strongly because in our culture dogs are considered almost parallel to humans? I can't help wonder how much of this is cultural, and how much is simply an emotional reaction due to a strong personal attachment to dogs.... Is this ACTUALLY morally wrong just because WE feel that it is? I mean, if you have pet overpopulation issues and live somewhere where access to a vet to properly euthanize pets is too expensive/unavailable, what IS an appropriate method? |

I read today that the Bosnian police are on the case and PTA has posted a $2000.00 reward for information leading to arrests. The Youtube posting is being back-tracked to the source. The couple should be easy to find as I am sure they have told some friends about their video. The fine per count(6)for this offense is reported to be up to $6400.00 US. This should be an interesting case to follow, almost as good as the hunt for Bin Laden. I hope (for their sakes) that the police get them before outraged citizens do. I work in a prison, I don't think they would be safe there either. I suspect the chase will end-up with the couple having died under mysterious circumstances. Imagine what it must be like to know that the entire planet is out to get you. Of course, these people might be enjoying it as they appear to be pretty sick individuals. |
