Friday, October 15, 2010 8:41:24 PM Anime in the 80's had lower budgets. Now it's pretty high-quality, surpassing most western animation. In contrast, compared to 80's cartoons like the newer Looney Toons and even Scooby-Doo, todday's western animation relies on designs not far removed from their basic blocky shapes, usually with thick outlines. An example of this is the cartoon "Kappa Mikey", where the main character is western-animated while everything else is anime-styled. South Park, Samurai Jack, and Ben10 all have the "shaped" look, but are also well-developed in plot and individual styles, for cartoons that is. |

Sunday, September 05, 2010 9:45:48 AM @Nao Mi: while i agree tthat anime is just its own style dont justify your argument with false statements. The traditional anime style is made with 8 frames per second; out of a regular NTSC television which shows about roughly 24 fps, this means one image stays on the screen for 3 frames (this is referred to as triples). American animation however uses 12, so 2 frames are shown per second (doubles). |

Saturday, September 04, 2010 5:50:20 AM Anybody who says japanese animation is lower quality has never seen "Iria. Zeiram: the animation" "Serial expirements: Lain" or "Elfenlied." |

Friday, September 03, 2010 11:35:36 PM "all asian cartoons are lower quality, that's why they're cheep than doing it here. I loved Speed Racer as a kid but it wasn't great animation. All of ANIME is just crap animation with good story lines. {I know I'll get crucified for saying that}" Um, no, actually. Anime uses a fairly higher frame rate standard than, say, U.S. cartoons do, thus making it more fluid, etc., and so it is, by the facts, a more quality animation. I won't go into specifics - you can easily find it, I'm sure, if you're curious - but that's the gist of it. It's obvious you just don't like the art style of anime and prefer, I'd assume, American cartoons, and that's fine. But do some research before spouting off things like that. :\ |

Friday, September 03, 2010 12:02:52 PM The people who make phineas and ferb are not lazy. This should prove it. In my opinion, this show is some of disney's best work. |

Thursday, September 02, 2010 10:12:25 AM @Gerry1of1 Can't really say that for ALL cartoons, even those in entire group. There are some Japanese animations that WAY better than American (even from graphics standpoint). |

Tuesday, August 31, 2010 8:07:05 PM You didn't know that the cartoon industry is degenerating. There is no plot or content anymore. Everything seems to be a bunch of competitions to see who can be more down syndrome. It could be made with stick figures for all I care so long as kids today could grow up with something less idiodic to watch. I loose brain cells just hearing my little cousins talking about these shows. |

Tuesday, August 31, 2010 7:14:46 PM There is a reason for everything...if you think about it. Maybe the writters/creaters are doing that so that the children watching dont just Focus on the fancy artwork and learn to follow the story better! Its developing their listening skills rather then having them zoning out on the pretty animation! Maybe? I mean. what would you prefer to watch.... Gummi bears.. or south Park?!?! LOL Its all about the context these days!!!! |

Tuesday, August 31, 2010 6:22:09 PM Durrr lets compare promotional artwork created for scrutiny to a screengrab from some random moment in a show and then we'll also blur the screengrab so it doesn't look as sharp. I'm sure if you took some random moment from this gummi bears thing it would look ridiculously crappy. |

Tuesday, August 31, 2010 4:31:44 PM The fact That Phineus and Ferb is the best thing on TV since Walter Cronkite does make me sad. But the Gummi bears as an example of good animation? Fooey. Not since the Waner Bros. Shorts has thier been animation worth watching untill the computer age. |

Tuesday, August 31, 2010 3:01:16 PM "All of Anime is crap"? Everyone who makes generalities is an idiot. Do you mean Ponyo and Princess Mononoke are also crap? I believe Japanese anime has set the mark to beat for years now. Cowboy Bebop with a wonderful soundtrack also sported some amazing detail (I love the time they spent on reflections). Phineas and Ferb is genius. Well written. I think it's a playful show and the artistry reflects that. Realism is just one way to animate. |

Tuesday, August 31, 2010 1:28:02 PM I liked Adventures of the Gummi Bears as a kid. I like Phineas and Ferb, too. I don't have a problem with the new style. ElSombrero: But I like the old ones better. The new CONTENT just sucks in general. To a degree, we all do. That's why we come to I-A-B, amiright? |

Tuesday, August 31, 2010 11:05:45 AM This is ludicrous - Phineas and Ferb is hysterical! And really the animation is really good in that show, and it's smart as hell. Loved the Gummy Bears but Phineas and Ferb is one of the better cartoons in YEARS. |

Tuesday, August 31, 2010 10:41:10 AM simple style = suck em....no you're just ignorant of other types of animation and styles. and Gerry not ALL Asian animation is inferior...most animated things are from Asia now..from the Simpsons, to Animaniacs to Family Guy. It all depends on Studio, Budget and Time. (the only American animated show that is actually made here 100% is South Park I believe)

Tuesday, August 31, 2010 10:27:08 AM Maybe the artist created simple characters that are strange shapes to make them more memorable..but most likely its the laziness thing |
