Correction- they can't see that THEY are the problem. They are her parents, and she is using their computer to get on-line, and they should set rules and boundaries for her computer use. The internet wasn't an issue when I was her age because it didn't exist (well, I guess it did, but it wasn't what it is today, and we didn't have access to it). However, they didn't just let me watch whatever I wanted to on TV. My dad even took the cable connecting the box to the television set to work with him sometimes so my brother and I would go out and play instead of vegging out when we got home from school.
Based on the Omegale video posted earlier, she is clearly in control of the computer at her house. |

Watched the videos, I really don't get why anyone cares.
It gives people an excuse to rant about the internet being BAD AND RUINING EVERYTHING !!!!one111one. TV shows can scare more people into believing that society is about to end, that everyone is a victim, blah blah blah. The usual stuff.
The authorities can use the resulting fear as an excuse to impose more controls on more people, especially on the net (which they hate because they don't have much control over it and it was specifically designed to resist restrictions).
She gets to be briefly famous.
Some people get some entertainment and a few more transient memes. Until the cyberpolice backtrace the memes and delete them :) |
