wow, how hight did he have 2 jump to make this! eeek!
Not as high as you might think. He uses the wall for traction. Jump, foot on wall, drive upwards from that foot, repeat. It's far from easy, but a skilled person with the right footwear can get a fair way up a wall like that.
Of course, doing that makes the catch far more difficult than if he was standing or even jumping for it. This is a huge display of skill. |

Do they only get standing ovations if they do backflips and then catch it?
A cultural thing, perhaps. Japanese society is traditionally more restrained in public displays than the USA.
