Well, the commercial is funny. Only really uptight nitwits would get their panties in a bunch over this ad. The only thing I don't get is what this Paddy Power does. It's not explained well in the commercial. By that standard, I can't call it a good ad. Just funny. |

The only controversy I could see here is from some PETA type organization for kicking the cat. And the cat wasn't even harmed, as seen in the end...
Other than that, seems fine to me. It's not like it's screaming "HA HA, YOU'RE BLIND! THAT'S FUNNY!"
Besides, has anyone actually had a blind person watch... Oh, wait... *cough* |

That'd actually make a good sport for the blind if there was any way for them to tell where the goal boxes were. They'd be able to get some exercise in a safe environment where they aren't "different." They'd be better than sighted people with eye masks at it, too. |

you know, i would actually get very involved with this sport were it real. it would be quite the challenge, having to play soccer by sound. not really something that could go major league, though. imagine listening for that bell over a crowd! |

When I was in college (feels like a century ago) There were a few things we did with the support of the local blind assoc. chapeters like blindfolded batting practice, and blindfolded dinners, to give people that can see a little feel of what being blind is like.
I always wondered: How would you describe color to someone who was born blind? |

how is a game where you cover your eyes and try to play by sound offensive to blind people?
That's the point: it is not offensive to blind people because the commercial was their own idea (England Blind FA), and these people in the commercial are not actors, they really are the England Blind Football Association. They are REAL Blind Footballers. And they are good at it! |
