Or a gay activist posing as a "religious right?"
Do you ever wonder where the pastor or priest is from the church these people supposedly belong to? I do. I think these are anti-church people doing a caricature of the church for publicity.
Either that, or I have been fortunate to know only intelligent and well schooled Christians. |

I totally know where that is. It's in Key West. I sort of know that guy (name's Jackson I think). I totally heard about this happening the other day. My friend was even going to make a sign and stand next to Jackson, but then failed at the sign and quit. |

maybe a quick explanation would help....
i deduce that you would consider yourself
"to the right" , and think that when they say "religious right" they mean you.
if you dont go spouting things like "god hates ffags" or "god made the towers fall cause you are all sinners" or "you're going to burn in hell for not coming to MY church", there's a really good chance that you are not part of the religous right.
i know i can't speak for my fellow I-A-Ber's when i say this, but i think many will agree- i dont hate christians. i dont hate anyone. i just dont want to be preached at, nor do i want ANY religion in my government, just like my founding fathers!
so yeah, in short, WBC is what is called "religious right".... and i would take a haphazard guess you'd find yourself catagorized (sp?) as something like "left centrist religious& |

Westboro Baptist is not the religious right. They have been denounced by legitimate churches.
Every other church has been denounced by the Catholic Church, which believes it is the only true path to salvation. Does that mean all other flavours of Christianity are not legitimate churches?
It's funny because, when I read the Bible, you know what I find? WBC are right - God DOES hate fags. So much so that they'll be tortured forever if they act on their feelings.
He also hates children enough to make bears tear them apart (2 Kings 2:23-24) and to punish them forever for the sins of their ancestors (Exodus 20:5).
And women enough to turn them into salt for the most trivial of reasons (Genesis 19:26), consider them property of men equivalent to a house or an ox (Exodus 20:17) and not deem them holy like males (Luke 2:23).
WBC are just more honest about God than the rest. |

Wouldn't something like "God Loves Heterosexuals" sound a little more Christian? The thing that bothers me about these right wing Christian nuts is their negativity and hate. They don't act like Christians. |

I read an interesting article about how the WBC is merely an engine for lawsuits: they protest in the most offensive way possible, whilst still remaining legal, then wait for someone to attempt to infringe upon their right to free speech so they have an excuse to sue and profit.
If someone knows where that article was, I'd be grateful for the link, as I've long since forgotten where it was. |
