twilight vampires is not real vampires. think about it. they dont have to drink blood, and they do not burn in sunlight...they are just invincible and gay. yes, that's right.
True blood has real vampires. evil, ugly, horny bloodlusty ,creepy awsome vampires that actually can die. it's entertaining. |

It's only ironic if the writer meant to do it (which he didn't). Otherwise it's a statement, that happens to have it's own joke in itself. There is no reversal of circumstances, expectations, contradictions. Now if he said "New joke is old." then irony may be applied.
I know what you meant, but unfortunately I don't know if there is a term for the misappropriation of irony that occurred here.
