amonamarth20: 'The Prowler' is designated EA-6. It is the same damn plane dufus! The only difference is the 'E' and I explained what that was. 'Electronic warfare' means Radar (and communications) Surveillance & Jamming.
The F-14 is now retired as well, And guess what replaced it ? The F-18.

Wow, that guy must have nerves (and cajones) of steel. However, from this angle it's a bit tough to gauge the actual distance. But that's still about a thousand feet too close for me so still amazing. |

it started out as a bomber and an electronic warfare plane and was replaced by the f-14. its currently retired although this could be the prowler which is still in service although only 1 sqaudron remains |

MattPrince: Actually, It appears to be a US Navy A6 Intruder (Notice the refueling boom sticking out the front).
These have a different role in the navy now, They were fighters but the F-18's took over that role.
They now have large antenna arrays on top of their tail and are used for radar surveillance, Mainly. |
