Wednesday, July 21, 2010 3:52:44 PM Oh dear. So maybe, just maybe, they botched together a quick photo because they didnt want to waste more money. People read into things too much, it means nothing. They have already got that cap working, you want them to all stop working and pose for you? For drats sake, its not even BP who did the drilling, its an american company, and BP are now cleaning up thier mistake. |

Wednesday, July 21, 2010 10:52:54 AM @ElMustache: Couldn't have said it better. Well done! On a side note, BP will get back every penny spent on this disaster via tax write-offs in the US and the UK. The monetary damage to the company is only a very minor set back in their bank accounts. |

Wednesday, July 21, 2010 1:08:01 AM BP cut every corner they could to keep the profit margins high before revenue from the well started coming in. Something went wrong, too many corners were cut and people have a right to be pissed. Im not saying BP should be bankrupted because thats one of the biggest loop holes for not paying the claims against them. The safety reports the handed in were copied and pasted versions of one of their alaskan pipelines. It mentioned protecting walruses for christs sake. Last time I checked, there are no walruses in the gulf. It'd be one thing if this had happened and they were honest about the whole thing, but at every chance theyve lied and misled the american people about whats going on. And the fact that youd have others standing up for this is sheer insanity. Im looking at you GOP. They get so much in contributions its sickening. So when you hear them yelling in favor of BP, Follow the money, Republican or democrat, its the easiest way to see whose interests are being looked after. |

Tuesday, July 20, 2010 9:40:38 PM To all the people wishing BP goes bankrupt, Go blow it it out your kazoo. A lot of people depend on BP providing part (or all) of their pensions, So don't be so hateful. Accidents happen, It wasn't intentionally done. Heck it wasn't even caused by a drunk skipper like the Exxon Valdez, So back off and allow them to fix the mess and compensate those affected before rendering judgment. |

Tuesday, July 20, 2010 6:37:20 PM Lion, I fail to see the purpose of one company lying about the amount of oil left in the world. The market would tend to correct for that. By claiming there's more oil than there is, they bleed themselves dry much more quickly than if they were to correctly price oil based on how much there actually is. On the other hand, if they claim there's less oil, then there is the prisoner's dilemma: the companies will collude until one becomes greedier than the rest and start cutting prices to take over market share. And if BP was a monopoly as opposed to an oligopoly, they would price oil high enough that people would still pay for it, but still make tons of money (that's how DeBoers and Microsoft work). |

Tuesday, July 20, 2010 6:21:41 PM Sorry, but if there's money to be made in the energy sector, even if it's clean renewable energy, O&G will be there. They'll transition; they always have. The notion of putting "all the bastard oil companies out in the damn street" is laughable. |

Tuesday, July 20, 2010 6:11:25 PM Why shouldn't BP fake a few photo's? They've been lying about how much oil is left in the world for 20 years now, just ask Davy sometime... and get your bicycle out and dust it off, cause we're all gonna be riding them a lot sooner than you probably think. |

Tuesday, July 20, 2010 4:33:25 PM Me too screwloose, In fact after the company is bled financially and in American receivership, I hope that the former management team of what will now be known as AP (for American Petroleum) all die of some horrific incurable fatal disease, perhaps Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease. Yeah that would be good. What they did to the planet they did for greed. There should only be scorn. |

Tuesday, July 20, 2010 4:32:40 PM All other oill companies MAY be screwing up also....But there is one good thing that is going to come out of all this....HOPEFULLY other companies will now have laid out plans and equipment to stop a blowout like this much faster and with much more efficency. Maybe even develop one or 2 ships made for nothing but oil skimming so that we dont have to retrofit a ship on the fly. |

Tuesday, July 20, 2010 4:20:54 PM screwzlooose, it's not 20 its closer to 50 to 70 years. They're still digging up at the Valdez spill. This gusher of a blow out is a high mix of methane and oil. This poo is going to be around for awhile. |

Tuesday, July 20, 2010 3:07:38 PM @tedgp well, he might not have said it straight up- but i will BP was lying and got caught. it's not my opinion, its a damned fact. oh, and i don't seem to remember anyone saying that other oil companies are better..... BP is just drating up NOW, so we're calling them on it NOW. and yeah, to be honest this i don't care about, i just want them to compensate those people in the area who just had the next 20 years of their lives screwed up. and then i want to find a way to provide cheap clean energy and put them and all the bastard oil companies out in the damn street. |

Tuesday, July 20, 2010 1:25:40 PM madest. You try to say BP is a blatant liar? You may want to look closer to home and not pour blame on one company, simply because its the current cool thing to do. |

Tuesday, July 20, 2010 1:15:07 PM BP changed the photo back after this blogger pointed out their photoshop to the media. You can defend BP's actions but there might not be anything to defend if they were a marginally honest corporation. Washington Post article. |

Tuesday, July 20, 2010 1:10:37 PM OMG BP's not using every frame. That means they're goofing off!!!11!one! I'm upset with BP for real issues. This is not one of them. They were stupid to 'shop the original, but they're bleeding in the water and the sharks have them surrounded so BP's panicking. |

Tuesday, July 20, 2010 1:10:15 PM I think this is fake. I went to BP's website and found the actual image and it looks nothing like the one shown here. Plus let's be real BP has money, if they were going to shop something, it would look better than that. |
