This is not a casino. Looks like a stop-n-rob. Georgia had these for a while. I never understood why... There was no cash payout. It really was just a slot machine where win or lose... you didn't get anything. |

If you've ever studied game theory, very precise calculations are used to ensure that while the house will come out ahead, it is also worthwhile for the patrons.
That is not to say being a gambler is not wrong, of course. If you don't know when to cut your losses, that's your own fault. There's a reason it's often the lowest kind of people (case in point being this mother) who become gambling addicts-- they aren't that bright. But for the casual person, the house makes sure the chance is worth the risk. |

Gambling is terrible, it really is. I'm opposed because the setup is rigged (house always wins in the end), and only idiots or addicts get sucked in.
I have a friend who had to declare bankruptcy at 18 - AT 18!!!! Because of gambling. Its just a game for most, but there are truly addicts who cannot stop themselves.
Sure, some people make a lot of money, but for every one of those, there are ten people going bankrupt, losing their homes, their families, everything. |
