Depending on your definition of n*gger it is (people get to use epithets like "white trash" and "redneck" left and right in this forum without reprimand, not to mention the incessant blonde jokes [an overwhelmingly white trait]), but thanks for taking up the mantle - I'm sure the NAACP would appreciate it if they weren't too busy attacking Hallmark greeting cards for being racist, if only on the basis of selective interpretation. |

sarahjanae: The point is that if one party is aware that the conversation is being recorded and the other is not, the recording does not paint an accurate picture. I'd be willing to bet that this woman can give it just as well as Mel can. |

Caper, have you ever been talked to like that on a continual basis? If she had expected him to be civil, why would she record him?!?!? I recorded my husband because I wanted proof of the way I was treated. Yes, we do act differently if we know we're being recorded, but behavior like his is chronic. And the attitude of whoever said their business shouldn't be everyone else's is the reason people get killed by their abusers. No one wants to get involved in someone else's marital disputes; even when one of them is getting the poo beaten out of them. I seriously cannot believe how ignorant people are about this. Sad. Very, very sad. |

The fact of the matter is that this woman set him up. She was on her absolute best behaviour because she knew the tape was rolling, and Mel got suckered. I think it makes HER look like a total douchebag for releasing it, as it's nothing more than PR to make her look like the good guy in the dispute. Mel didn't say anything that any other man in America wouldn't have said in the same circumstances. Let's not pretend that he's worse than Satan, because he was set up and it's not fair. |

Freedom of speech ends when you start threatening people with violence. I don't know if it's in this recording, but he threatened to burn his ex's house down with her in it, told her she deserved to be raped, and admitted to hitting her while she was holding their kid.
I guess violence is just "private" and should be ignored because it's none of our business? Lame. |

I can't believe people are even freaking out about what he said, JUST BECAUSE he is FAMOUS. You guys wouldn't give a shat about some white trash being racist, but you start busting nuts all over the place if the guy has some money.
Give me a break, so what if he is racist, who honestly cares? No wonder celebrities are crazy, can't even keep their personal lives personal. What is meant by "his career" is defined through what he makes nowadays. I personally think it's total crap. Definitely when you compare it to Mad Max and the such. And so what that he still has money? Do you guys honestly respect this guy despite his racist tendencies, just because he has money?
Second, if you listen closely, he calls his wife a bitch because she wears "provocative" clothing in public, as a result tempting men to rape her. Not just men, a "pack of I am a racist!s". Isn't that just the pinnacle of dickery? |

Sure, super crazy, but that's hardly as bad as something like this, is it? Yes this is racist, but it should have been titled his 'Vile Abusive Rant', or sexist or something, since that was clearly the bulk of it. What a douchecanoe. And to whatever dumbass said that people 'let people treat them' in certain ways, and so his girlfriend is to blame... are you stupid? She left him, got a restraining order, and is trying to get custody. I guess people need to be psychic to get out of relationships before they really blow up. Because you can tell what a person is like (sanity-wise) immediately. Right. You fail as a human being. And especially as a woman.
