Friday, July 09, 2010 1:47:29 PM @duffytoler I don't think you realize that pretty much most major animation these days requires some use of the computer, and stop-motion is no exception. For instance, I'm pretty sure the camera hooked up for this scene was connected to a computer, and edited on one as well. |

Friday, July 09, 2010 5:43:37 AM If you think that's great, have a look at the famous scene from Jason and the Argonauts where Jason and his men fight undead skeletons. Except the skeletons were done in stop motion. It took the animator (the legendary Ray Harryhausen) four MONTHS to complete four minutes of animation. |

Thursday, July 08, 2010 9:34:17 PM The guys that do stop motion amaze me, it is so time consuming, so complex and so demanding- when someone nails the results it's incredibly impressive (ala Corline, Ntmre Bfr Xmas, Patrick Boivins youtube work) |

Thursday, July 08, 2010 8:37:46 PM I also take a traditional animation class. A 3 minute long stop motion animation? Took us A SEMESTER to make. And it wasn't even all that great. D: You also have to consider that to get Coraline's facial features, they have to change her face EVERY FRAME too, and therefore need a different face-mask-thing for each frame if you want her facial reactions to be smooth. OMG. |
