Premier,
You have to look at it on a little larger scale. Against our military legal weapons would cause some damage, but not much once they started using missiles and bombs. Obviously as has been illustrated in Iraq and Afghanistan, an insurgency can be financially crippling. We could just as easily start making IED's, and popping off who we can and melt back in with the population.
But, in an orchestrated crackdown like that, chances are you are going to see no unification, soldiers will disobey orders, commanders will take control of their own units and bases. States will retain their national guard and reserve forces and begin using them to protect their borders, etc. Then we have a real nasty civil war on our hands. |

I'm not saying that I am for or against the right to own guns but I just need to ask...
If our government turns against us, the same one that can pinpoint exact locations across the world, the same government that has any of the world's top military technology, the same government that has absolute control over land, air, and sea....
What are the chances that civilian issue guns do little more than ensuring revolting Americans are shot to death rather than detained? |

@McGovern1981, man it is so damn refreshing to see someone on here who's not a complete drating moron. What you said is absolutely correct; if guns are banned we might as well ban anything else that has the POTENTIAL to be dangerous. It's not like violence suddenly came into existence at the same time as guns or something. Also, to my fellow Americans, you should really be happy about your right to bear arms. It is to ensure that if a corrupt government rises up, we will have the means to fight back against injustice. That was the whole point of putting the second amendment in the constitution. Our country is one of the only in the world that expressly gives us the right to revolt against a corrupt government, though many people are completely unaware of this. However, doing such a thing would be completely impossible without guns. |
