Eh, American self-hatred is so gauche. This guy (in the pic) is getting old as well. Not to mention, if we didn't argue over what our founding fathers did, we'd have no purpose for the Supreme Court or the system of checks and balances for that matter. As Thomas Jefferson said, "The price of freedom is eternal vigilance."

Welcome to the land of I-Am-Bored! Where no matter the subject there is always a horde of "experts" ready to explain to everyone why the picture or video they just laughed at wasn't funny, at least not when you take into account the plethora of at this point completely unrelated "facts" which they will relate to as if they had a phd in pointless trivia. I hate this site.

Siyanor: It appears I will have to put this in simple terms and hope you understand. Firstly, to pretend that the economic and political backdrop (taxation, Proclamation of 1763, etc) of the Colonies is irrelevent to the origins of the rebellion of those colonies is a statement of profound ignorance. Secondly, AN ACT OF REBELLION IS NOT THE SAME THING AS THE CAUSE OF THAT REBELLION. This is a concept I would expect a small child to grasp. The cause has to be traced to the underlying motivations and attitudes of both sides. Specifically, the desire of the people of Virginia or Pennsylvania to be treated the same as those from Northumbria or Cornwall with the same representation in the House of Commons and the refusal of the Home Government to allow it. The Boston Tea party was merely one manifestation of defiance that began with peaceful dissent and ended in war, it was the cause of nothing.

xiquiripat, actually, your comment provides nothing, because it is ENTIRELY IRRELEVANT TO THE DISCUSSION, which was THE CAUSE OF COLONIAL REBELLION, not the economic outcome of the French and Indian War.

The cause of colonial rebellion, as tenty stated, is COLONIALS THROWING OUT TEA BECAUSE IT WAS FAR BELOW NORMAL PRICE. Tenty did not state the reason for that, but it was belief that the tea was poisoned, as EVERYONE who has ever taken a US history class should know.

It seems you have a learning disorder, xiquiripat.

JoeSmash, did you even read what was written on the blackboard? For someone who's an "old dude," you sure are illiterate.

This post makes me want to reach into this screen and punch that "getting it all wrong" Idiot in the Boston Redsox hat right square in the mouth.
Then I look down at the comments to see if there is any hope in this next generation.
I want to give ya'll the old dude lecture. I know it will be lost on most of you. So I wont.
However, the one thing you knuckleheads care about is the internet.
Senator Joe Liberman of Conn is currently trying to make it very easy for the Government to shut down and or restrict your internet.
There is alot of garbage like this in all 4 major english speaking countrys. US/UK/Canada?Australia.
There is very little real differances in how all four of these countries go about their daily lives.
Forget America vs Enland, The DI is about Liberty vs Tyranny. If you 18+'s don't argue for Liberty you will LOSE YOUR FREEDOM.
Your beloved internets are on the chopping block.

Ok done, sorry I lectured anyway afte

Siyanor: In what sense is he correct? At the time of the French and Indian War the Americans were British. The French and British were skirmishing in the Ohio valley and a French expedition had forced out several British merchants. And as for the "propaganda" it must have been pretty damn good considering that William Pitt, the leading man of the British Empire, thought the Americans were in the right. "I rejoice that America has resisted. Three millions of people, so dead to all the feelings of liberty, as voluntarily to submit to be slaves, would have been fit instruments to make slaves of the rest....The gentleman asks, when were the colonies emancipated? But I desire to know, when were they made slaves." -WP In another speech he compared the Colonials to Parliament themselves in their war with Charles II. And considering that you neither refuted nor added to the discussion in any meaningful way your comment is simply a waste of space. Much like your brain.

I think, though not sure, this guy has more of these things. Where he writes something down on the chalk board that's somewhat provocative.

I hate his f*cking face. It's always sour-looking.
He looks like the kind of guy that's (too much) into conspiracy theories and smokes weed all day.

"Happy Look at me im American and you are not Day America!"

Because no other country in the world other than the US has a day in which they celebrate their existence.

"So why not compromise? In the last century has anyone considered that at all?"

That's what I'm saying, Nido. The winner of the fight between staunch Republicans and staunch Democrats is... drummroll, nobody. They're both fools.

"Slavery: Lincoln abolished it because he needed more troops, not because he had any serious views on its evilness."

Lincoln never abolished slavery. He said that in all states rebelling, slaves should be set free. He had absolutely no power over the rebelling states. He wanted to keep the border states in the Union.

I am thankful for the day Will Smith and Jeff Goldblum blew up the alien mothership.
