It's simple Dave. While their products are occasionally neat, the company has an unfortunate reputation for developing a fan base which would now quite literally kill for their products. Also, just about every underhanded technique has been employed by them at some point, carefully planned obsolescence, staggering of advancements, deceptive bundling, misleading claims (i.e. see recent right-hand reception), and the ridiculous prices.
Not to say ALL Apple products are terrible (I have an iPod), just that the company is too open about its screwing with people who are too addicted to the products to care/notice. Hope that helped a bit! |

You said so yourself that you haven't been looking at HTC for the past two years, so that makes your point null and void.
All your qualms about HTC phones seem to stem from winmo (files tructure, app distribution etc.), which HTC has no control over, that's Microsoft's problem.
And as far as I know xda are still active, so all I see is an apple fanboy trying to defend his choice to buy an iPhone.
btw I'm not hating on apple, they have good qualities, just a really crappy execution. |

Secondly, mu opinion of HTC: it sucks. And I know it does, because I had an HTC TyTN II and it blew on a major scale, mostly in terms of lagging and video and all those shenanigans. I haven't been following what they've been doing for the past 2 years (because I have an iPhone and don't need to care about the rest of the world), but before 2 years ago HTC were worth even looking at only because of XDAdevelopers that fixed most of the problems with their buggy phones. Nowadays I tell everybody to steer clear of HTC.
Now for the iphone, I'll just list the strong poitns:
Best mobile browsing experience
Easy to use (and no, easy to use != made for idiots, look into HCI)
Syncing is a breeze
Extrememly successful app distribution scheme (I am looking at you, WinMo!)
iPod and the way it's in the system, same for phone functionality
Not a smartfone => no traversing file structure
Great screen
Responsiveness of the GUI

Ok, first thing first: counterpoints.
Larger screen: makes for a larger phone. And iPhone still has a higher resolution which is IMO better.
Internet speed: well it's a 4G phone. I don't care because I don't DL anything through the phone and regular browsing is unlikely to be affected, besides we don't have 4G down here.
Camera: really don't care. And it's not the resolution, it's the density and matrix size that matters, and it's bad in all phones.
Wi-fi to video chat: yeah that's true.
Memory and battery replaceable: don't care. I had more problems with removeable SD cards than I've ever had with any iPhones. Battery - can get fixed at apple store.
Customisation - I am too old and too male to do that to my phone. And if you really want it - Cydia got it. Some might need it though, not me.
Costs less - fair enough.
Sum it up: only two points made in the video that apply to me is cost and 4G. And not really. |

@Mikeer, yea see, no. I had a friend who had an iphone (don't remember which one b/c i really couldn't give a drat less), and my G1 was better in every single conceivable way. Not only that, but you really provide no counter argument to the video, that makes a poo ton of really good points... all of which are against the iphone. |

The argument is actually quite valid: it's an iphone. End of story. You don't need to know anything else to know that it's a better phone.
Seriously, it's just better. You have to try it first. I was very opposed to it based on the features, but at some point in life you start valuing products not on the features they present on paper, but on their quality and HOW they perform those features. Iphone performs superb compared to most - no lags, actually very usable as a phone, etc etc. And don't give me the crap about camera and replaceable memory cards because I much more want my phone to be more useable rather than make better-quality-but-still-blurry-and-ugly photos. |

eh i love my iphone 4, so it's all good. switched from g1, kinda wish i had gotten the evo but it's all good, phones aren't the most important thing in the world. |

Incoming "Apple Annoys Me Rant"
It all started with itunes. It just HAD to be installed with Quicktime. "No Apple, I already have a .MOV player, it plays everything!, I might just uninstall Quicktime".
Then itunes says "No but I won't work without my counterpart Quicktime! If you uninstall QT I will no load properly, that is how Apple intend me to work"
So I say "Fine QT can stay... wait what's this Bonjour crap?!?! I need to uninstall this too! I want minimal processes running while my computer starts up!"
Then Itunes says "No, bonjour is ANOTHER application that you require for Iphones! uninstalling will cause instability within itunes!"
I was not impressed, and not afraid of Itunes threats of not working. I just wanted a music player and Itunes had a nice interface. BUT OF COURSE IT COMES WITH MORE BAGGAGE THAT A 40 YR OLD DIVORCEE
Juding by these problems I'll never get a iphone |

I never knew what the sick obsession with iPhone's was all about.. In all honesty, I hate Apple and all their overpriced drating products. You can get things that work just as well or better for half the price of anything Apple sells.
I have NEVER bought anything Apple related once in my life and never will, although I have pooloads of friends who have. Sadly for me last christmas I was given an iPod, I was very eh about it.. It honestly isn't a big drating deal, seriously. Just because it has the brand "Apple" on it doesn't mean its the greatest thing ever... |

Full disclosure: I work at a Sprint store. With that out of the way, the HTC Evo kills the Iphone 4. For half off what it would cost you seperatly, you get a 4g wifi hot spot built in. Plus the 8 MP camera that records 720P HD with an HDMI output. Android lets you customize anything and has all the apps that you could want. All that and the plan is still only 69.99 a month. Only the morons the video portrays could think that the Iphone is the better choice. |
