Thursday, June 24, 2010 9:43:45 PM I cannot stand some people... The bible and the church (at least not anymore) do not look down on homosexuals for what they are, but what they do. Being homosexual is fine. God created them that way and it is not their fault if they are homosexual. However, the church does look down on homosexuals who do homosexual activity. Those that do, go against God's reason for making man and woman. God specifically put man and woman to love and reproduce. Since man and man and woman and woman cannot reproduce, same-sex marriages and relationships are not allowed in the church. The Church encourages chastity for homosexuals, but if their hunger for a more, uh, physical cravings drives them, they must resort to becoming straight. Hopefully that all made sense... |

Thursday, June 24, 2010 7:13:08 PM You and I must of went to the same bible camp, Gerry... my first experience was with a church youth counselor. I saw the Virgin Mary over the headboard and knew I had found my path... |

Thursday, June 24, 2010 10:43:30 AM @MCM2010 You know what I don’t tolerate, as a raving liberal? Slavery. Stoning someone to death for committing adultery. Not eating shrimp. The Bible is confusing, but that’s because it was written by people, not a god. I do think that the Bible can be a way to follow your own moral compass, but only as a metaphorical tool not a literal one and should not be used to declare that someone, for whatever reason, is an evil person or sinner .

Thursday, June 24, 2010 9:10:15 AM warning: opinion ahead..... personally i think anyone who actually believes in the bible god as written in the christian bible are mentally ill. people who use an outdated tome writen for superstious sheep hearders as a way to live their life in todays day and age need help. i know that is a broad brush i am painting with, but still. |

Thursday, June 24, 2010 9:08:43 AM I do not come to this site often - only if I'm really looking for something to do, and honestly, most of the comments posted here are so liberal. I honestly think that most of you would have tolerance for anything. I am a Christian. I don't know this Adam Hood guy. But regardless, to me he sounds like he's got his head on pretty straight. I think the Bible is pretty clear on this matter, and I am really sick of all this negative slander toward it. Yes, the Bible can be confusing at times because it WAS written by many authors, but I believe the meaning is clear to those who have read it. |

Thursday, June 24, 2010 5:12:40 AM By the way, The Bible isn't right because it's been tainted by humans. No matter what God's real intention was when he told humans to write the Bible, the real message got lost the moment people started making their own versions and interpretations. drat the churches and drat the bible. |

Thursday, June 24, 2010 5:08:43 AM "Being homosexual is fine" You realize the stupidity of what you just said? You can't be homosexual if you don't act in homosexual ways. You would be abstinent. What you're saying is the equivalence of telling a black man to stop being black because he'll burn in hell for it. You sir are retarded. Believing that the Bible has no flaws. It was written by people, not God. "I cannot stand some people..." Most people can't stand you |

Thursday, June 24, 2010 2:18:00 AM Can anyone explain why quote tags in my posts, which appear as quote tags in the editor, are mangled into '[quote">' between the editor and posting if I also include HTML links in the post? It happens every time and it's a bit irritating. |

Thursday, June 24, 2010 2:16:15 AM This website bends over backwards to give equal showing to wildly different points of view on religious topics. It's deliberately co-written by people with very different views in order to try to prevent personal opinions: [quote">We are a multi-faith group. As of 2010-FEB, we consist of one Atheist, Agnostic, Christian, Wiccan and Zen Buddhist. Thus, the OCRT staff lack agreement on almost all theological matters [.."> [/quote"> Unsurprisingly, there's a huge section on homosexuality If you want multiple viewpoints and examination of possible interpretations of various passages of the Christian bible, that's a very good place to go. |

Thursday, June 24, 2010 2:10:58 AM However, the church does look down on homosexuals who do homosexual activity. Some churches don't. It is open to interpretation. It's nowhere near as clear-cut as you make it out to be. God specifically put man and woman to love and reproduce. *By your own argument* all sexual activity not intended for reproduction is wrong. Is that really what you believe? The Church encourages chastity for homosexuals, but if their hunger for a more, uh, physical cravings drives them, they must resort to becoming straight. Do you really think people can switch their sexual orientation at will? Seriously? Hopefully that all made sense... Of course it didn't - it's the usual semi-Christian argument against homosexuality. |

Thursday, June 24, 2010 2:05:48 AM The Old Testament isn't to be followed by Christians. It happens before Jesus Christ and everything within it you had to do to absolve your sins. Jesus came to be the final sacrifice (apparently). Therefore, only the New Testament is written for today's Christians. Matthew 5:18-19 is in the NT and explicitly stated to be a direct quote from Jesus very explicitly stating that Christians must follow every rule of Judaism, i.e. the OT. There are plenty of cases within the NT that document homosexuality as an act against God. Please supply chapter and verse so I can make a counter-argument against any examples you might have. I'm also interested where you get "plenty" from, because I've not seen anyone else come up with more than a handful at a stretch. |

Thursday, June 24, 2010 12:57:29 AM Homosexuality isn;t a sin. Its not a sin because for it to be a sin, it implies there is a god. There is no god, ergo, homosexuality isn't a sin. Homosexuality is biologically unnatural. But its not a sin. |

Thursday, June 24, 2010 12:45:02 AM Why, if God loves gays, would he want them to burn in Hell for their "sins"? And is he is a "father for all", why wouldn't he intervene and punish after the "sins" were committed, especially is He's "all seeing"? |

Thursday, June 24, 2010 12:18:38 AM Wow, I gotta say, seeing a flamboyant guy talking about how wrong it is to be gay is REFRESHING. It's like finding the lesbian section of the porn store after being locked in the missionary room for 3 years. It's something you don't normally see. |
